The celebration gathered the administration, the director of education and research institutes, the deans of faculties, the academic and pedagogic faculty of the university, the first-year students and their parents. The event was held on a modern stage in the cozy courtyard of university following the recommendation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
The pandemic made its corrections to the traditional celebration, so this year the event was held in two parts with personal invitations.
“I would like to sincerely congratulate you for becoming the students of one of the best universities of Ukraine! You entered our university in a special year; in December, Poltava Polytechnic will celebrate its 90th anniversary on a state level, as was specified by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine last week.
“Our higher education institution is also known for long-lasting educational traditions, founded with the Institute of Noble Maidens in 1818 and preserved for the modern innovative center of Poltava region.
“Today we are celebrating our traditional First-Year Student Day, but there will be another celebration later in October, the Students Initiation Ceremony. It will be held by the students’ government to initiate you to the student family of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”.
“I would like you to remember this day for the next five years, because the student life is incredibly eventful and dynamical, this is the best time in your life.
“Our university is changing with the innovations coming to our country and the world. The situation with the lockdown made us even more successful; we adapted easily to the online learning, and now university has a unique project “E-University”. You will receive a QR-code that will lead you to our website and social media. We also developed a Telegram chat-bot for your schedule this year; you can see all the changes in your schedule there and easily follow them. I would like to ask you to offer your suggestions on how to improve the operation and organization of the education process, so that we become even better for you to be proud of your university. May you have inspiration, energy and positive emotions!” Rector of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko greeted the freshmen.
The representatives of the students’ self-government also joined the celebration. The Head of the Students’ Union Committee of Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic Oleksandr Drobotia and the President of the Students’ Parliament Oleksandr Lytevynenko congratulated the new students.
After the end of the ceremony, the first-year students took pictures with each other and went to the university to meet the mentors of their groups.
