Paralympic champions become Honorary Masters of the University

On September 10, National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" held celebrations on the occasion of the Day of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine and a meeting with graduates and students-champions of the Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020. The university awarded graduates with the titles of Honorary Masters. Students were also awarded with citations and gifts.

Annually, in September, National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" celebrates the Day of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine, congratulates both experienced athletes and those who take their first but confident steps at the Sports Olympus, encourages significant achievements of talented youth, graduates, coaches and lecturers of the university.

The solemnity was attended by Rector of the University, Head of the All-Ukrainian Public Organization "Student Sports Union of Ukraine", Public Association "Ukrainian Federation of Student Sports", Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, Head of Physical Culture and Sports of Poltava City Council Ihor Kyslov, Head of a separate structural subdivision in the Poltava region "Union of Kettlebell Lifters of Ukraine" Mykola Tkachenko, students and graduates-paralympians, who glorify the university and Ukraine at the highest, international level with their own achievements.

Students and graduates of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", as well as a separate structural subdivision of the university – Poltava College of Oil and Gas, became triumphants and replenished the treasury of gold, silver and bronze awards of Ukraine!

Our Ukrainian sports heroes!

I am alive with pleasant emotions, pride in your sporting feats, achievements and brilliant victories!

Three champions are graduates of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports.

According to the decision of the Academic Council of the University, diplomas and prizes in the amount of academic scholarships were awarded to the Honorary Master of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic". May the gifts, applause and warmth of our wishes always remind you of the Alma Mater.

Thank you for your example that motivates young people to play sports and achieve their desired goal.

The names of the champions are included in the book of honor of Poltava Polytechnic "Pride of the University"!" – congratulated the rector of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", the head of the All-Ukrainian public organization "Student Sports Union of Ukraine", the public association "Ukrainian Federation of Student Sports", Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko. Together with Acting Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Lina Rybalko presented the attributes of Honorary Masters.

The new title and mantle of the Masters now belong to:

Yevhen Bohodaiko, Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine in swimming, seven-time champion and winner of the Summer Paralympic Games;

Yurii Bozhynskyi, Master of Sports of Ukraine of international class in swimming, multiple winner of the Paralympic Games, bronze medalist of the Summer Paralympic Games 2020 in Tokyo, multiple world and European champion, multiple champion and winner of the Ukrainian Swimming Championships and Cups;

Ivan Mai, Master of Sports of Ukraine of international class in table tennis, bronze medalist in table tennis of the 2020 Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo, silver medalist of the 2017 World Championship in team category, multiple European champion, silver medalist of the Ukrainian Championship.

Citations to the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", branded university souvenirs and prizes in the amount of 1500 hryvnias were received by champion students:

Denys Ostapchenko (Poltava College of Oil and Gas), Master of Sports of Ukraine of international class in swimming, two-time European champion, three-time winner of the World Championships, champion, gold, silver and bronze medalist of the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo;

Oleksii Virchenko (Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports), Master of Sports of Ukraine of international class in swimming, two-time bronze medalist of the World Championships and the European Championships, silver medalist of the 2020 Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
