Within the Memorandum on Cooperation between National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and the Association “Ukrainian Center of Steel Construction”, the presentation of the competition and the terms of participation for the students of the Education and Research Institute of Architecture and Construction was held.
Due to the lockdown limitations and the complicated epidemic situation in the country, the event was held online on Zoom. More than 40 students and teachers took part in the presentation. The terms of the competition, requirements for the projects, the possibilities of perspective employment for the winner, and the giveaway of prizes from the organizers were presented by the coordinator of Steel Freedom-2020 Andrii Rymarenko.
“This is a great chance to apply the knowledge you received at university in practice, work in team on a creative project, get consulting from experienced architects and the possibility of employment at Ukrainian and international companies. The perfect duet “architect+constructor” makes for imagination activity, allows to show your own vision of the project. Everything depends on you wish and you skills of working in harmony and with results,” Andrii Rymarenko commented.
The students of 3-6th years of higher education institutions of Ukraine can participate in the competition both individually and in teams of no more than 5 people. Last year the requirements included a mentor (advisor) - a teacher, not a student. This eased the procedure of taking part in the competitions and will allow the participants to receive qualified consulting in case it is necessary.
On September 24, students of ERIAC will have the possibility to meet the clients of the projects online to speak with them and determine their wishes and recommendations.
The competition tasks this year include creating a project of a stadium in Mariupol (ordered by Mariupol City Council) and a multi-purpose sport complex in Ivano-Frankivsk (by DC Evolution).
Registration deadline is September 30. The projects must be submitted until November 2. The competition will end on November 30.
“Architecture and construction students are already getting ready to participate in the competition. I hope that this year will be as fruitful as the last one, when our team became a finalist of the competition. I am thankful to the organizers and jury members for the high organization level, interesting tasks and creative ideas. This year’s tasks are not simple, but very interesting, and will yet again allow to challenge the participants’ skills and knowledge. I hope that this year the shortlist will include more students from Poltava Polytechnic. May the students have inspiration, creative ideas, and may they bring them to life successfully,” Assistant Professor of the Department of Architecture and Town Planning Andrii Koniuk.
According to the Head of the Department of Architecture and Town Planning Oleksandr Semko, this year more participants are expected. Because the chance to present one’s own projects on such a large-scale level will be an additional positive motivation for students and teachers.
The organizers of the competition randomly gave the participants of the presentation presents, such as face masks, t-shirts, stylish shoppers and books about steel in architecture, construction, reconstruction and parking, and set of stickers.
The organizers also hold giveaways of 3D pens, Xiaomi acoustic systems, brand t-shirts and face masks in their social media, the official page of the Steel Freedom competition.
