Within the framework of the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference "Documentary and Information Communications in the Conditions of Globalization: State, Issues and Prospects", scientific and pedagogical staff of the Faculty of Humanities initiated and conducted an intercontinental teleconference of friendship for the second time, which was attended by representatives from all over the world – lecturers and students-translators of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", the Sao Paulo State University (Brazil), and the University of St. Andrews (UK). Scientists of the Department of Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation, the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation, bachelor's and master's students of the specialty "Information, Library and Archival Affairs" of Poltava Polytechnic also joined the interesting English-language discussion.
The large-scale international event was opened by Anna Aheicheva, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", who emphasized the importance of high-level and international level of the meetings for the exchange of views for the scientific community of Poltava Polytechnic and the Sao Paolo University (Brazil).
"Dear colleagues, the scientific community! For the second time at the Faculty of Humanities of our university we are holding an intercontinental teleconference of friendship! The online format of the event did not prevent the establishment of a constructive dialogue between representatives of the international scientific community, and the warm friendly atmosphere was inspiring a lively exchange of views, developments and practical experience. Poltava Polytechnic has many years of educational traditions of organizing and conducting joint events with our longtime partners – Santa Fe College (USA), Sao Paulo University (Brazil). We will continue to successfully implement such events. Thanks to all participants, partners, scientists and students for participating!" – commented the Head of the Faculty of Humanities.
Professor of the Sao Paulo University (Brazil) Reggiani Apresida highlighted the important aspects of cooperation between partner universities and presented an interesting report on modern lexicological problems "For the words of the world to the world of the words focus on the history of lexicography".
The interest of the participants in the friendship teleconference was caused by a speech of a student from the oldest Scottish university and one of the three oldest universities in the UK – the University of St. Andrews Alex Purcell. The speaker has prepared a thorough scientific research – "Early works by W.B. Yeats", dedicated to the early work of the Irish poet and playwright of the early twentieth century, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature (1923) W. B. Yeats.
During the dialogue and discussions of the problems of language education in different countries of the world, Candidate of Philology, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Kateryna Palii presented practical cases on the introduction of cooperative studying technologies in the process of forming communicative competencies of students who are doing their degrees in higher education institutions ("Cooperative learning in the educational process").
The speech about grammar, which is the basis of any language, studies the common patterns of grammatical structures of different specific languages and the differences between them was prepared by Olha Lupai, a student of the first (bachelor) level of the specialty "Philology" of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic".
The discussion interested the audience and aroused lively interest, and the most active participants asked many questions in English.
According to Anna Aheicheva, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", the level of the Intercontinental Teleconference of Friendship the important role of international foreign communication for personal, professional growth is difficult to overestimate: "For several years in a row, we have been continuing a fruitful dialogue with our foreign partners and increasing the level of awareness of the university's student youth with language, legal and social issues of different countries around the world.
Thanks to the personal support and comprehensive assistance of the Rector of the University, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, and created favorable conditions for the harmonious development of the personality of scientist, lecturer and professional, we have ample opportunities for the employment of our graduates in today's labor market. The tradition of conducting large-scale scientific events with the participation of international partners inspires us to discuss new directions and strategies of scientific and educational cooperation."
Participants of the teleconference and foreign partners noted the high level of holding the event and thanked the organizers for establishing a constructive dialogue.
Earlier, scientists deliberated on the peculiarities of teaching English in Ukraine and Brazil, the Faculty of Humanities of Poltava Polytechnic organized an intercontinental teleconference of friendship, a professional translator presented useful life hacks for a successful career as a philologist, scientists and professional translators platforms discussed practical cases of online teaching of foreign languages, and participants of the youth scientific talked the problems of modern philological science.
