“Path to Success”: psychological studio participants master the most common art practices for children and adults

On January 25, an open meeting of the psychological studio “Path to Success” was held in the laboratory of psychodiagnostics as well as correctional and developmental work of the Poltava Polytechnic. In the format of the “Barrier-Free Space” round table, children and their mothers talked with scientists, students of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy and attended classes on using art practices.

Scientists of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” – Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department Svitlana Yalanska, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Nataliia Saiko, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor Nina Atamanchuk, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Lesia Klevaka and Assistant of the department Oleksandr Kornilov in cooperation with the Charitable Association “There IS a way!”, the public organization “Poltava Down Syndrome” held an open meeting of the psychological studio “Path to Success”, which took place in the format of a round table “Barrier-Free Space”. The participants of the useful and rich event were special guests – “sunny” children and their mothers, who spent their free time usefully and meaningfully in a friendly and creative atmosphere, fruitful dialogue using the most common art practices.

Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the Poltava Polytechnic Svitlana Yalanska congratulated the participants of the meeting of the psychological studio “Path to Success”, stressing the importance of the psychological health of children and adults in the difficult conditions of martial law. The scientist spoke about the wide possibilities of the laboratory of psychodiagnostics and correctional and developmental work, created on the initiative and full support of the rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko. The innovative location quickly became a multi-functional platform for providing high-quality educational services to students, master’s students of specialties 053 “Psychology” and 012 “Preschool education”, providing psychological services for individuals and legal entities, conducting scientific research. According to Svitlana Yalanska, such multifunctionality is possible thanks to the use of special laboratory equipment.

Students of specialty 053 “Psychology” Viktoriia Humeniuk, Oleksandra Malorodna, Yaroslav Perederii, Anna Yepifanova, Yelyzaveta Babych, Oksana Vrodlyvets, students of specialty 012 “Preschool Education” Aliona Prydatko, Kateryna Dendeberia joined in communicating with the restless little ones, who were interested in absolutely everything.

Classes with the use of art practice tools for children were conducted by Viktoriia Humeniuk, a master’s student in specialty 053 “Psychology”, director of the Communal Institution “Inclusive Resource Center” of the Dykan Settlement Council. Smiling, with a cheerful, joyful mood, the children performed rhythmic movements with Oleksandra Malorodna, a master’s student in specialty 053 “Psychology” of the Poltava Polytechnic.

The Head of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy Svitlana Yalanska offered mothers of children to perform an art exercise aimed at developing intuition and personal creativity. With the participation of psychologists Nataliia Saiko and Nina Atamanchuk, the participants considered the possibilities of personal resources in solving their own problems, discussed the most pressing issues that are constantly concerning mothers of children with special educational needs. Soulful, warm atmosphere, support of like-minded people helped everyone to open up.

“Today’s event proved the necessity and usefulness of such meetings, since by communicating, playing and learning, our children get new necessary experience, find friends and develop. We are glad that even in the conditions of a full-scale war, working on our own educational front, we can use practical knowledge and professional skills to serve those who really need it,” – commented Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the Poltava Polytechnic Svitlana Yalanska.

Earlier, Polytechnic students and volunteers attended the training meeting of the psychological studio “Path to Success”, and the psychological studio participants presented a palette of creative hobbies.
