Picked team of Polytechnic becomes a silver medallist of the XXII Football Championship of Ukraine among Higher Education Institutions

The picked team of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” became a silver medallist of the XXII Football Championship of Ukraine among Higher Education Institutions. The team’s coach, Senior Teacher of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Poltava Polytechnic, national football judge Oleksii Vorobiov, was the best coach of the season.

From 3 to 5 June, 2024, the competitions of the XXII Football Championship of Ukraine among the student teams of higher education institutions of the season 2023/2024 were held in Kyiv at the Viktor Bannikov training complex.

The large-scale sporting event was held under the auspices of the Physical Education and Sports Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Football Association, the Sports Student Union of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Association of School and University Football.

The picked team of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” became the silver medallist of the XXII Football Championship of Ukraine among Higher Education Institutions. In the final game against the team of State University of Trade and Economics, athletes of Poltava Polytechnic demonstrated a well-coordinated team play and a thirst for victory, losing with a score of 1:0.

Coach of the picked team of Poltava Polytechnic, Senior Teacher of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports, national football judge Oleksii Vorobiov became the best coach of the team participating in this season’s prestigious sports tournament and was awarded a first degree diploma.

In his welcoming speech, Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) First Vice President Pavlo Boichuk said: “Congratulations to the participants and winners. I am grateful to the rectors of the universities who pay attention to the development of student football. Thanks to all the organisers. Thanks to the Defence Forces of Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!”

This result – to be in the top 3 best student football teams in Ukraine – is a testament not only to the talent and skill of our athletes, but also to their perseverance, teamwork and desire to win! I am proud of your achievements and thank you for representing our university with dignity at the national level!

I especially want to note the effective work of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports and the Polytechnic Sports Club, thanks to which our athletes have the opportunity to develop, improve their skills and achieve high results. Your work is an integral part of our sporting victories!

It should be recalled that last year the head football coach of Polytechnic was awarded the title of the best coach of the student football team among higher education institutions of Ukraine according to the rating of the All-Ukrainian Football Association of Students.

Recently, Polytechnic athletes became silver medallists of the European Football Championship.

Earlier, the first-year students of FPCS won a full set of awards at the Ukrainian Canoeing Championship, Polytechnic students became the winners of the Physical Culture and Recreation Race, and university students won gold and silver awards at the Ukrainian Kettlebell Lifting Championship.
