National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" became the venue for a working meeting of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Dmytro Valeriiovych Lubinets with the leaders of the Poltava region, representatives of local communities, law enforcement agencies, internally displaced persons and families of military personnel.
During a working visit to Poltava on May 24, 2023, during the solemn meeting of the Academic Council of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", the Ombudsman of Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic".
"For me, this is the first experience when I have come to the region and immediately agreed to the proposal of the head of the higher education institution to sign the Memorandum. To be honest, firstly, his personal charisma must have worked, secondly, I saw the true level of the National University, and thirdly, this is a truly higher educational institution – an island of science, development and innovation.
I am sincerely grateful for your conscientious work, for teaching and educating the future of our country. We are ready to support any initiative of yours!" – said the Ombudsman of Ukraine.
According to the Rector of the Poltava Polytechnic, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, the signing of such an important document presupposes, first of all, joining efforts to protect constitutional human rights, and this applies in particular to all participants in the educational process and internally displaced persons.
It should be noted that the Gender Center, aimed at protecting the interests and equal rights of women and men, as well as the Legal Clinic at the Department of Public Management, Administration and Law have been established and are effectively operating on the basis of the university, so this joint effort creates a synergistic effect, contributing to the protection of the interests of Ukrainian citizens, which is extremely important in the conditions of martial law.
The purpose of the Memorandum is to coordinate efforts in the field of development and implementation of scientifically based mechanisms for ensuring and protecting human and citizen rights and freedoms.
In less than two months after signing the Memorandum on scientific and educational cooperation with the Ombudsman of Ukraine, a round table dedicated to the first anniversary of Ukraine's ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on the Prevention of Domestic Violence was held on the basis of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", the annual report of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights was presented, and an interdepartmental round table on the psychological rehabilitation of military personnel and persons affected by russian aggression was held.
