For the second time in a row in the last month, the main sports hall of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” has become a landmark location for an incredibly beautiful and exciting dance performance in terms of the level of expressed emotions of the audience – the XI Open charitable festival of sports dance “Poltava Waltz-2023”, where representatives of 27 clubs from different parts of our country competed for the championship on the dance floor.
Competitions have traditionally had a charitable purpose – to support courageous Ukrainian defenders. Anyone could participate in the voluntary collection of funds in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The organizers started the event with pledging allegiance to the State Flag – the attendees honoured with a Minute of silence the memory of military personnel and civilians who died as a result of the criminal actions of the aggressor country on the territory of our country.
The participants of the dance event were greeted by the rector of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Head of the Separate Structural Subdivisions of the “Sports Student Union of Ukraine” and the Ukrainian Federation of Student Sports in the Poltava region, Volodymyr Onyshchenko, who wished the young talents of Ukraine success and bright enchanting victories on the dance floor.
“Even despite the war, our youth continue to develop, participate in dance tournaments and win!
I am sincerely grateful to the organizers of the competition, in particular Yevhenii Bronnikov, for fruitful cooperation with the Poltava Polytechnic. We are glad that, holding our own scientific, educational and cultural front, we are bringing Victory closer by joint efforts!
It is worth noting that the Department of Choreography and Dance Sports is successfully functioning in the structure of the university, headed by Honoured Worker of Culture of Ukraine Petro Horhol, and the university is welcoming participants and guests of the dance festival for the second time in a month!
Despite the introduction of martial law and air raid alarms, we continue to make our children happy! After all, the future of our indomitable country lies in the young, smiling talents!” – congratulated the talented youth the head of the Poltava Polytechnic.
During the day, spectacular performances were presented to the audience by representatives of the dance clubs “Golden Dance Club” and “Triumph Plus” from Dnipro, “Mstudio” from Kyiv, “Ekspromt”, “Confetti” from Krasnohrad, “Demovskyy Dance Club” and “Elegy” from Kremenchuk, “Masters” from Kryvyi Rih, “Dance Sport Life” from Kropyvnytskyi, “Prestige – Club” from Lanna, “ASdance studio” from Lubny, “Step by Step” and “Contrast” from Okhtyrka, “Drive Dance”, “Gross-M club”, “Accent”, “Elegant”, “Crystal”, “Master-Dance”, “Inspiration”, “Rhythm”, “Tandem”, “Festival” and “Juventa” from Poltava, “Visa Dance” from Sumy, “Dance Family” from Kharkiv and “Freestyle” from Khorol. The performance of the “Seniors” ballroom dance ensemble with the composition “What a Moonlit Night” caused thunderous applause from the audience, while members demonstrated by their own example the indisputable truth – art as an invincible manifestation of beauty has no age limits.
The skills of the participants were evaluated by a highly respected panel of judges, which included: Vadym Matus (Dnipro), Ruslan Shevchenko (Kyiv), Nataliia Demovska (Kremenchuk), Volodymyr Shulha (Kryvyi Rih), Volodymyr Matulka (Kropyvnytskyi), Stanislav Kuzniechykhin (Lutsk), Nataliia Ryzhenko (Okhtyrka), Oleksii Hamurar (Poltava), Petro Horhol (Poltava), Taras Hrechykho (Poltava), Andrii Pupko (Poltava), Olena Rahulina (Poltava), Svitlana Solovei (Poltava), Yurii Sribnyi (Poltava), Kateryna Taran (Poltava), Denys Khorishko (Poltava), Vitalii Shembarov (Poltava), Oleksandr Zhuravlov (Kharkiv), Serhii Kalachov (Kharkiv), Volodymyr Karachentsev (Kharkiv), Vadym Rabota (Kharkiv).
The chief judge was Stanislav Kuzniechykhin (Lutsk), the sports commissioner was Denys Khorishko (Poltava), the head of the counting commission was Vitalii Horhol (Poltava).
Participants fiercely competed for sets of honorary awards in the Latin American and European programs of ballroom sports dances in the age categories “Children. Debut”, “Juveniles 1. School”, “Juveniles 2. School”, “Juveniles 1 “School Plus”, “Juniors 1 “School Plus”, “Children “N” class”, “Juveniles 1 “N” class”, “Juveniles 2 “H” class”, “Juveniles 1 “E” class”, “Juveniles 2 “E” class”, “Juniors 1 “E” class”, “Juniors 2 “E” class”, “Juveniles 1 “D” class”, “Juveniles 2 “D” class”, “Juniors 1 “D” class”, “Juniors 2 “D” class”, “Juniors 1 “Open”, Juniors 2 “Open”, Youth + Adults “Open”.
In each of the above-mentioned categories in four divisions, members of the highly qualified judging panel determined the semi-finalists and finalists of the competition as well as awarded certificates of honour and medals.
“I am happy that our talented youth, despite the war, continues to practice their favourite art right here in Ukraine.
It is wonderful that the love for the unique beauty and elegance of dance movements has united talented and persistent, very young dancers, juniors and already experienced dancers, whose creative duets impress with a high level of practical training.
I am convinced that the National University will continue to host incredible energy and vital drive dance tournaments, and the galaxy of young talents will be replenished with hundreds of new sports “stars” who will multiply Ukraine’s achievements on the international arena!” – stressed the Rector of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Head of Separate Structural Subdivisions of the “Sports Student Union of Ukraine” and the Ukrainian Federation of Student Sports in the Poltava region Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
It should be recalled that earlier on the International Day of Dance, the All-Ukrainian Sports Dance Competition “Cup of the Rector of the Poltava Polytechnic” was held.
