Polytechnic athletes become gold and silver medalists of the European Powerlifting Championships

Athletes of Poltava Polytechnic's powerlifting section demonstrated excellent results at the European Powerlifting Championships, which is held in the city of Thisted (Denmark). Student Valeriia Koniukhova became the owner of a set of gold awards in the weight category up to 43 kg, and athlete Dariia Holovko won the silver award in prestigious international competitions.

From May 1 to 7, 2023, the European Powerlifting Championships among all age categories: European Open, Junior and Sub-junior Equipped Powerlifting Championships 2023 are taking place in Thisted (Denmark). During the spectacular performances, boys and girls, male and female juniors, as well as experienced athletes from different parts of the world demonstrate excellent physical fitness, a high level of training and an intense struggle for victory. 

A student of group 101-FR specialty 227 "Physical therapy, Ergotherapy" of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports at the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", two-time champion of Ukraine in powerlifting among girls, gold medalist of the Championship of the Poltava region in classical pressing Valeriia Koniukhova won a full set of gold medals at the European Powerlifting Championships, taking first place among girls in the weight category up to 42 kg.

The athlete squatted 115 kg, bench pressed 52.5 kg and deadlifted 125 kg. As a result of the competition, the student of Poltava Polytechnic established a new Ukrainian record in powerlifting among girls, gaining 292.5 kg in the sum of three exercises, which corresponds to the standard of the Master of Sports of Ukraine in powerlifting. The convincing victory of athlete Valeriia Koniukhova was the result of persistent daily training and self-improvement.

And another athlete, a student of the 401-NG group of Educational and Research Institute of Oil and Gas of the Poltava Polytechnic, champion of Ukraine and absolute bronze champion in powerlifting according to the IPF formula among female juniors, European and world champion in powerlifting Dariia Holovko became a silver medalist of the European Junior Powerlifting Championships.

The champion was trained by an experienced coach, Master of Sports of Ukraine of the International Class in Powerlifting, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, senior lecturer of the Department of Physical Therapy and Ergotherapy of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", champion of Ukraine in the classic bench press, silver medalist of the European Powerlifting Championships, world champion in classic bench press Oksana Hordiienko, for whom the European Championships became a new step towards professional and sports growth. Having successfully passed the qualifying exams, the mentor and experienced athlete received the title of judge of the second international category.

Earlier, FPCS freshman Yehor Mychko became the silver medalist of the Ukrainian Youth Triathlon Championship, Polytechnic student Volodymyr Lytvyn became the silver medalist of the Ukrainian Armwrestling Championship among youth, adults and veterans, second-year student Mykhailo Serdiuk became the silver medalist of the Ukrainian Muay Thai Boxing Championship among adults, FPCS student Ruslana Symonenko became a four-time gold medalist at the Ukrainian Armwrestling Championship among youth, adults and veterans, and Polytechnic student Valeriia Koniukhova became a two-time champion of Ukraine in powerlifting among girls.
