Monetary awards will be given to 66 athletes from Poltava for their considerable achievements to the Day of Sport, the appropriate decision was made on September 2, at the meeting of the Executive Board of Poltava City Council.
According to the Director of Poltava Department of Culture, Youth and Sport Olena Romas, the sum of the award will depend on the level of the receiver’s sport achievements. In total, almost 810 thousands hryvnias will be given from the city budget for paying the awards to the Day of Sport of Ukraine.
The largest awards (more than 37 thousands hryvnias each) will be given to 10 athletes, candidates to the Olympic team of Ukraine and their trainers.
Fifteen citizens of Poltava will be awarded 18,6 thousands hryvnias each for the sport achievements at world and Europe championships. The list includes Dariia Brazhnyk, a World Champion in Powerlifting, a graduate of the Faculty of Sport of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”.
The Day of Sport of Ukraine, founded in 1994, is celebrated annually on the second Saturday of September. This year, the celebration takes place on September 12.
