Polytechnic is to provide free online courses on cyber hygiene for its students

Online courses on the basic rules of security in the digital environment will be opened at the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”. The course will help students learn about the main threats in the digital environment, grasp life hacks for the safe use of gadgets and information resources.

On April 4, Deputy Chief of the Poltava Regional Military Administration Ihor Panchenko reported on the results of a working meeting with representatives of higher education institutions of the Poltava Region that train specialists in the field of knowledge “Information Technologies”. The meeting was devoted to the implementation of online courses on cyber hygiene for students.

The courses will be held with the support of the US Civilian Research & Development Foundation (CRDF Global in Ukraine). It's completely free thanks to a CRDF Global grant, funded by the U.S. Department of State.

“In today’s world, cyber security issues are relevant for everyone. The course “Basic security rules in the digital environment” will help students learn about the main threats in the digital environment, understand what personal information hackers “hunt for”, grasp life hacks for protecting personal data, money, safe use of gadgets and information resources. It will be of interest to anyone who uses social networks, e-mail, news sources or simply searches for information on the Internet.

To get a certificate, one needs to pass all course modules and complete a general test for a passing grade,” – commented Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer and Information Technologies and Systems of the Educational and Research Institute of Information Technologies and Robotics of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Kseniia Verhal.

The course contains a lot of practical tasks – they will help you practice solving very real life situations without harming your own computer or smartphone. The certificate of the course completion will certify the readiness of students to apply new knowledge as a “cyber security belt” in an information space that is not immune to hacker attacks.

Earlier, the Polytechnic presented educational opportunities for internally displaced persons, as well as the first Gender Center in Poltava region, and the SoftServe Company held a webinar for students about the peculiarities of the IT business during the war.

It should be recalled that the NMT registration point at the Polytechnic will operate without weekends.
