The relevant decision was published on the official website of the City Council. According to the Decree of Poltava City Council, the best athletes, coaches, veterans of sports and physical culture specialists, who made a significant contribution to the development of youth and professional sports in the Poltava region, demonstrated high professionalism in quality training of athletes, specialists in physical culture were awarded with the prize of Poltava City Council.
About a hundred Poltava residents will receive cash prizes on the occasion of the Day of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine – Honored Coaches of Ukraine in various sports, coaches-teachers of children's and youth sports schools, physical culture specialists and sports veterans representing Ukraine at the Olympic, Paralympic and Deaflympic games, European and world championships, including Honored Masters of Sports of Ukraine, Honored Workers of Physical Culture and Sports, Honored Workers of Education, Masters of Sports of Ukraine and the USSR, veterans who worked and are now working in the field of physical culture and sports, in children’s and youth sports schools.
Among the winners is Honored Coach of Ukraine, kettlebell lifting and weightlifting coach, judge of the national category, senior lecturer at the Department of Physical Education of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Pavlo Mandia.
It is worth noting that 37 disciples of the legendary coach became Masters and Honored Masters of Sports of Ukraine in kettlebell lifting, hundreds of athletes showed excellent results at national and international competitions, Championships of Ukraine, Europe and the world and more. And one of his disciples, a graduate of Poltava Polytechnic, became the absolute champion of the Arnold Schwarzenegger Sports Festival in the United States.
Honored Coach of Ukraine Pavlo Mandia as an athlete has a number of personal achievements in weightlifting: the result of competitions in 1958 in the weight category up to 60 kg: bench press – 100 kg, jerk – 97.5 kg, push – 127.5 kg. This record was held for 27 years, until it was broken by his disciple.
The amount of the prize is 6211.18 UAH. In general, it is planned to spend a little more than 300 thousand UAH from the budget of the Poltava city territorial community. Earlier, Poltava Mayor Oleksandr Mamai presented certificates for cash prizes to Paralympians – students and graduates of Poltava Polytechnic, who won 10 medals of various kinds.
