Within the framework of the Memorandum on Scientific and Educational Cooperation and Partnership between National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" and the leading high-tech company Siemens, Polytechnic lecturers continue to acquire new practical skills and deepen theoretical knowledge in programming, information technology and computer systems. In particular, lecturers of the Educational and Research Institute of Information Technology and Robotics – Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Automation, Electronics and Telecommunications Oleksandr Shefer and Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Automation, Electronics and Telecommunications Oleksandr Laktionov visited the SITRAIN Ukraine Training Center – the only automated Center for trainings on Siemens training programs in the country. The training center is equipped with state-of-the-art industrial equipment and allows to conduct specialized trainings, taking into account individual characteristics and technologies.
Scientists of Poltava Polytechnic successfully passed the training, during which they deepened their theoretical knowledge on the peculiarities of using the hardware configuration of asynchronous electric drives SINAMICS G120 as well as software products STARTER and TIA Portal.
Everyone present had a unique opportunity to implement the theoretical knowledge gained during practical classes, experiment and test the latest computer technologies.
The course program included:
- Overview of SINAMICS G120 hardware configuration;
- Parameterization and commissioning using operator’s base panel (BOP-2) and operator's intelligent panel (IOR);
- Commissioning of asynchronous electric drives using the STARTER software product;
- Operation of "control word", "status word" and set parameters;
- Flexible connection of signals using BICO-technology. Application of free functional blocks;
- Control and regulation of frequency converters, both on the simplified – frequency control, and on a more technological vector principle;
- In-depth study of the functions of the frequency converter;
- Diagnosis and search of errors during software implementation of the electric drive control algorithm;
- In-depth study of Safety Integrated security function.
According to Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Automation, Electronics and Telecommunications of Poltava Polytechnic Oleksandr Shefer, the received practical cases will certainly be implemented in the educational process at the Educational and Scientific Siemens Center of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" for on-line/off-line PLC programming, testing and diagnostics functions in the TIA Portal programming package, during the setup of the operator's base panel (BOP-2) to work in different approaches, research models of starting electric motors with the help of free software product STARTER, meaningful deepening of the club "Robotics" of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", together with the Center for Extracurricular Education of Poltava City Council, career guidance work with student youth and development of methodological recommendations in the specialty "Electric Power, Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics" and recently opened specialty 151 "Automation and computer-integrated technologies".
"Mastering new professional skills, close communication with IT professionals, improving the quality of educational services will allow students of our university to significantly deepen theoretical knowledge and expand practical programming skills, use hardware configuration of asynchronous electric drives SINAMICS G120 and software products STARTER and TIA Portal. This knowledge will definitely be needed in their educational and professional activities," – commented the scientist.
In total, 8 people participated in the training – two representatives from each higher education institution of Ukraine, who have laboratory equipment from Siemens – National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Khmelnytskyi National University, Kryvyi Rih National University and Donetsk National Technical University.
Upon completion of the training, participants of the training Oleksandr Shefer and Oleksandr Laktionov received certificates of successful completion of the course "Setup, commissioning, diagnostics and maintenance of SINAMICS G120 drives."
Scientists and practitioners agreed on further scientific and educational cooperation and discussed priority areas of practical training of professionals in the field of automation, electronics and telecommunications.
Earlier, scientists underwent a programming course at the Siemens Ukraine Training Center, and students of Poltava Polytechnic visited the Siemens Ukraine Training Center.
