National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" and Stanisław Staszyc Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow signed an agreement on the possibility of studying under the dual degree and academic mobility programs.
This agreement opens up unique opportunities for students of the second (master's) level of "Oil and Gas Engineering and Technologies", "Mining" specialties of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" and defines the principles of enrollment and continuation of training future professionals of the oil and gas complex of Ukraine within the framework of full-time education of the second (master's) level in the specialties "Oil and Gas Engineering", "Geoengineering" and "Mining Wells" at the Faculty of Drilling, Oil and Gas of the Stanisław Staszyc Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow.
According to Volodymyr Onyshchenko, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Rector of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", partnership with leading European universities, based on friendly interaction, in particular with Polish higher education institutions, comprehensive support of the world academic community of our scientists and student youth will open wide opportunities for obtaining quality higher education at the European level.
In this year's prestigious academic ranking of the world's universities ARWU, also known as the Shanghai Ranking, 11 Polish universities entered the top 1000 universities in the world. Stanisław Staszyc Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow has improved its position compared to last year's ranking – it was classified in the range of 601-700 and now it occupies the highest position among Polish technical universities.

Krakow Mining and Metallurgy Academy is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Poland, a permanent partner of the Poltava Polytechnic. It was the teams of Polish universities – Bialystok University of Technology and Stanisław Staszyc Krakow Academy of Mining and Metallurgy that were among the first to express their support for National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" in the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. Poltava Polytechnic holds a special place among Ukrainian partner universities of the Academy. The Polytechnic and the Mining Academy are connected by long-term cooperation in the educational and scientific fields. At the end of 2019, scientists of the Poltava Polytechnic attended the celebrations on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Academy and the traditional mining festival "Barborka". Due to the pandemic, academic collaboration has been switched to online mode. Subsequently, Polish colleagues – the Dean of the Faculty of Drilling, Oil and Gas and the Head of the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering visited last year's traditional international oil and gas forum.
The rectors also discussed the priority directions of assistance to Ukraine by Polish universities and the implementation of the Polish-Ukrainian project "Center for Student Youth of Ukraine and Poland".
"By signing this agreement, we are starting our partnership with Poltava Polytechnic in the field of educational opportunities for student youth within the framework of dual degree and academic mobility programs. I would like to express my special gratitude to Rector Volodymyr Onyshchenko for establishing a constructive dialogue and achieving significant results in discussing priority areas of assistance to Ukraine. We are ready to exchange experience, scientific developments and communicate with Ukrainian youth", – noted the Rector of the Stanisław Staszyc Krakow Mining and Metallurgy Academy, Professor Jerzy Lis.
The condition for parallel study and obtaining a diploma of the Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza im. Stanisława Staszica w Krakowie is:
- obtaining all expected learning outcomes defined in the study program in the university-based curriculum;
- proficiency in the language of studies at least level B-2 within the framework of the All-European Recommendations on Language Education;
- completion of all course modules provided by the curriculum;
- obtaining the required number of ECTS points according to the study program;
- submission of the thesis within the terms specified by the Study Regulations;
- taking the diploma exam by the date specified in the Regulations on Studying at the Stanisław Staszyc Mining and Metallurgy Academy in Krakow.
It should be recalled that Poltava Polytechnic has signed a Memorandum and will cooperate with London Metropolitan University.
