Students of the Department of International Economic Relations and Tourism of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Kateryna Borysenko and Mariia Sokol took part in the International Student Research Competition “Black Sea Science 2024”, held annually at Odesa National Technological University under the auspices of Black Sea Universities Network and ISEKI-Food Association.
The first-year (bachelor’s) degree student majoring in Tourism and Recreation of Poltava Polytechnic Kateryna Borysenko’s research paper “Prospects of Dark Tourism Development in Ukraine” won the second prize in the “Tourism and Hotel and Restaurant Business” competition, having received 94.5 points in the first round of the competition.
During the public defence of her research, the participant received 20.9 points, demonstrated in-depth knowledge and an innovative approach to the topic under study, which allowed her to present her achievements, impress the jury and become a silver medallist. The winner’s supervisor was Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of International Economic Relations and Tourism of Poltava Polytechnic Viktoriia Makhovka. According to the scientist, the victory proves the importance of the research in tourism and the high level of practical training of students of Poltava Polytechnic.
A second-year student majoring in 292 International Economic Relations, a member of Euroclub “’NEW STAR” of Poltava Polytechnic Mariia Sokol, under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Department of International Economic Relations and Tourism, Doctor of Philosophy Iryna Levchenko, successfully presented the work “The Experience of Foreign Countries in Improving the Mechanisms of Public Administration in the Environmental Sphere in the Context of European Integration” in the field of “Economics and Management”. As a result, the student was awarded a certificate for participation and plans to continue her research activities on the previously announced topics.
It should be recalled that during the second stage of the student research competition, the participants presented their own research findings in the following areas:
- food science and technology;
- economics and management;
- information technology, automation and robotics;
- energy and energy efficiency;
- ecology and environmental protection;
- tourism and hotel and restaurant business.
Recently, Polytechnic students were awarded for the high level of scientific research presented at the international competition, and Euroclub members presented their own reports at the conference dedicated to the development of the national economy in the context of globalisation.
Earlier, a philology scientist improved her skills in preparing slide presentations after receiving training from the Peace Corps in Ukraine, future specialists learned about the peculiarities of digitising documents after attending a lecture by a well-known archivist, and a Polytechnic scientist took part in workshops on open science in the Netherlands and Belgium.
