Hungary hosted the WAKO Kickboxing World Cup on September 14-21– the 26th Hungarian Kickboxing World Cup, which is traditionally held annually in Budapest. More than 3,000 athletes from all over the world took part.

World competitions in the Hungarian capital, which were postponed for almost a year and a half due to the global pandemic, became the first large-scale start for the WAKO world community. The leadership of the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations held a general assembly, during which a new president of the European WAKO and board members of the continental center were elected, according to the press service of the National Kickboxing Federation of Ukraine WAKO.

Mykhailo Serdiuk, a first-year student of the specialty "Construction and Civil Engineering", competed in the Ukrainian national team and took the podium, winning gold on the main tatami of world competitions.

"I have been in the Legion sports club for about 8 years. I compete at various levels of Thai boxing and kickboxing. The World Cup in Hungary is my first international competition. This victory is the result of my efforts and coaching support. Thank everyone who was there during the training and victory. I wish everyone to be the most devoted to their favorite business in education and sports," – commented the student, 6-time champion of Ukraine in WAKO kickboxing and 3-time champion of Ukraine in Thai boxing.

In the overall standings, the national team of Ukraine took second place among 46 countries participating in the World Cup.

We sincerely congratulate the student-champion and are proud of our sports achievements. We wish you new bright victories at the Sports Olympus and success in your studying!
