As part of the "Rethink waste week" project of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Project programme "Production and dissemination of circular economy ideas in accordance with the EU Action Plan", the Sumy National Agrarian University held a competition of student research papers "Innovative solutions for the circular economy". 32 works from different regions of Ukraine were submitted for participation in the competition, which presented the most diverse areas of scientific research in the field of economic activity. According to the decision of a highly professional jury, 6 best student research papers were selected, the defense of which took place on November 10 in an online format.
The work of a master's student in the specialty 076 "Enterprise, trade and exchange activity" of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Inna Bykova "Cluster model of waste management for the Poltava region based on the European concept of "circular economy" (research supervisors – Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Marketing Kseniia Chychulina; Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking Business and Taxation Vitalii Skryl) won the third prize.
In the presented work, the author analyzed the possibility of financial support at the state and local levels, the level of individual territorial communities, funds from extra-budgetary funds, investment funds, loans, various forms of international financial assistance to ensure the financing of a complex of activities, calculated tariffs for four clusters, formed a toolkit for the implementation of European practices in solid household waste management at the regional level. The members of the highly professional jury highly appreciated the relevance, scientific novelty, and practical orientation of the research presented by the contestant.
According to the unanimous decision of the jury members of the competition of student research papers "Innovative solutions for the circular economy", the three winners included:
- research paper of the student of Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University Anna Savielova "Prospects of reusing metallurgical waste in the activities of industrial enterprises" (1st place);
- research paper of the student of the Lutsk National Technical University Bohdan Ivashko "Logistics solutions for the implementation of the circular economy model in the field of household waste management" (II place);
- research paper of a student of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Inna Bykova "Cluster model of waste management for the Poltava region based on the European concept of "circular economy" (III place).
All winners received diplomas and monetary rewards of 7,000, 5,000 and 3,000 hryvnias, respectively. Leading practitioners, scientists and members of the jury note the high level of preparation and presentation of student research papers, detailed analysis of the data used and the prospects of the development of the chosen profile.
In addition, the jury decided to award an additional prize to Inna Tytarenko, a student of Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University. The research paper "Alternative ways of using plastic waste" won a cash prize of 2,000 hryvnias.

Earlier, economist scientists discussed innovative mechanisms of sustainable economic development in conditions of exogenous challenges, philological scientists discussed effective cases of foreign language training of specialists, and scientists discussed practical cases of effective participation in the Horizon Europe for Ukraine project.
