The digital student ID card had been tested for more than three weeks by 10 thousand students. On April 8, 2020 it became available for everyone; more than 877 thousands of Ukrainian students, including the students of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” now can use their digital student cards.
“Now you don’t need to worry if you forgot your student card at home, because the digital version is just as valid as the plastic one. Students can download the application or just update it if they have already downloaded it, and check if their student card is shown there,” announced the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
It is possible to get the digital student card for free in the government online-service app “Дія”. The app is available at App Store and Google Pay.
“The joint project of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is a new level of modernization of services for students. And it fully corresponds with our strategy of E-University in educational process,” commented Rector of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
After the lockdown, the digital student card will provide discounts and advantages, such as:
- 50% off railway tickets in economy class, the card serving as ID for boarding the train;
- allowing to register on a flight within Ukraine;
- using discounts in museums and other state organizations in culture, including some cinemas, malls and stores;
- getting a discount on town or commuter public transportation;
- access to libraries in some education institutions and using the card as your library card.
The app “Дія” already has more than 2 millions of users, it is a part of the projects “Country in a smart-phone”.
