In the autumn semester of the academic year 2023/2024, four students of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law of Poltava Polytechnic Polina Kulyk, Dana Sholokh, Anastasiia Duchkova and Daiana Kuchka studied under the Erasmus+ KA171 credit academic mobility programme at the Finnish Laurea University of Applied Sciences.
Upon returning home, the participants of the mobility programme shared their impressions of studying and living in Finland:
Dana Sholokh, a second-year student majoring in 292 International Economic Relations, shares her thoughts: “Studying in Finland was exciting and well organised. Starting from the welcome week, we had the opportunity to meet students from different university buildings located in different cities. The students’ union, known as Laureamko, organised interesting activities for us international students, such as tours, picnics, competitions and parties, which made life at the university extremely rich.
The teaching methods were different from our traditional ones, as many lessons were based on teamwork. Lectures were held infrequently but were longer than we were used to. The classes in Finland also impressed us with their emphasis on practical skills. Various practical tasks and projects helped us to understand the material more deeply and use it in practice more effectively. Students were actively involved in research work and interacted with businesses, which made learning interesting and beneficial.
This programme allowed me to meet people from different countries, travel and get to know different cultures, which was an incredibly interesting and educational journey!”
Polina Kulyk, third-year student majoring in 073 Management, study programme “Information Technology Management”:
“Studying in Finland has become an unforgettable experience for me, full of both exciting discoveries and challenging moments. On the one hand, it was an incredible opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture, learn about innovative teaching methods and broaden my horizons. On the other hand, adapting to the new environment and the differences in the education system was not easy, and at times emotionally draining.
Would I go again if I could turn back time? Without a doubt, yes! Despite the difficulties, this experience was of great value to me. It was a chance that not everyone gets, and I am extremely grateful for it.
Despite the difficulties, I sincerely recommend that everyone who has the opportunity should try this programme. Studying in Finland is not only a chance to get a quality education, but also an opportunity to gain valuable experience, broaden your horizons and open up new horizons for the future.
Remember that every experience is unique, and what was difficult for me may seem easy for you, and vice versa.
The most important thing is a sincere desire to learn, develop and discover new things!”
Daiana Kuchka, third-year student majoring in 073 Management, study programme “Logistics”:
“Studying for a semester in Europe – what is it like? It is extremely cool and interesting!
Every day was filled with new impressions and discoveries, which made this period of my studies extremely fascinating and cool. Communicating with students and teachers, learning about innovative teaching methods, and discovering new aspects of Finnish culture were unforgettable moments for me. This experience allowed me not only to deepen my knowledge, but also to broaden my outlook, which is of great importance for my personal and professional development.
In Finland, I not only actively studied, but also had a great time. Meeting new friends from different countries, participating in interesting activities and events organised by the students’ union made my stay extremely pleasant and memorable. Parties, picnics, tours and other events added colour and joyful moments to my days, making them even more interesting and memorable.
I am grateful for this experience and look forward to new travels and opportunities to discover something new and exciting.”
Anastasiia Duchkova, second-year student of 073 speciality Management, study programme “Logistics”:
“I spent four months in Finland studying at Laurea University of Applied Science. During this time, I gained a lot of new knowledge, improved my English level and received a lot of emotions, because during our studies we had the opportunity to travel to different countries and saw many new beautiful places that we would like to return to more than once.
Studying for me personally was not difficult, but charged with high responsibility, as we worked in a team and everyone’s work influenced the success of the project the team was working on.
This programme showed me what opportunities each student has, that self-development and perseverance will always help you achieve your goals. And the most important thing is that you should not doubt yourself, but confidently go towards your goal!”
