Polytechnic students win the Cup of Ukraine in arm wrestling

Students of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Volodymyr Lytvyn, Vadym Lytvyn and Veronika Hrechana won gold, silver and bronze medals at the Cup of Ukraine in arm wrestling held in the village of Volovets, Transcarpathian region. As part of the picked team of the Poltava Region, the athletes of the Polytechnic took the first overall team place, becoming the best in their categories.

Polytechnic students win the Cup of Ukraine in arm wrestling

During December 14-18, 2023 the village of Volovets of the Transcarpathian region hosted the Cup of Ukraine in arm wrestling, in which 480 athletes from 22 regions of our country took part.

The solemn opening ceremony of the competition was attended by honoured guests – Volovets village head Mykhailo Popelych, executive director of ATLAS VOLOVETS ENERGY LLC Yilmaz Ilkhan, who wished the participants successful performances and bewitching victories. It is worth noting that the Cup of Ukraine in arm wrestling is being held in Volovets for the fourth time in a row, and the level of organization of the competition is only increasing every year.

As part of the picked team of the Poltava Region, students of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” showed the best results and won the first overall team place.

Honorary gold, silver and bronze medals of the prestigious sports tournament were won by:

  • Volodymyr Lytvyn, a student of 601-mFS academic group of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, won a gold medal on his left hand and a bronze medal on his right hand;
  • Vadym Lytvyn, a student of the 601-mFS academic group of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, became a two-time silver medallist in the left and right hand in the 70 kg weight category.
  • Veronika Hrechana, a student of the 101-FS academic group of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, won silver medals on her left and right hand as well.

Athletes are trained by a graduate of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the Poltava Polytechnic Artem Pysmak.

In general, athletes competed in different weight categories:

Juniors:

men: 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 80 kg, over 80 kg;

women: 50 kg, 60 kg, over 60 kg.

Youth: 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 80 kg, over 80 kg;

women: 55 kg, over 55 kg.

Adults: men: 55 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 75 kg, 80 kg, 85 kg, 90 kg, 100 kg, 110 kg, over 110 kg;

women: 50 kg, 56 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, over 70 kg.

The highlight of this year’s Cup of Ukraine was the absolute category, where athletes fought for cash prizes and an exclusive mace. People’s deputy of Ukraine, sportsman, Honoured Master of Sports of Ukraine, holder of the title “World’s Strongest Man” Vasyl Virastiuk and People’s Deputy of Ukraine Mykhailo Laba took part in the winners and prize-winners awarding ceremony.

All the winners and prize-winners of the Arm wrestling Cup of Ukraine were awarded with diplomas as well as gold, silver and bronze medals.

We congratulate the winners. We are proud of them and wish them sports enthusiasm, vital energy, new significant achievements!

It should be recalled that earlier the student of the Polytechnic Volodymyr Lytvyn became the silver medallist of the Ukrainian Arm wrestling Championship among youth, adults and veterans, and during the same competition, the student of FPCS Ruslana Symonenko became a four-time gold medallist.

The winners of the Ukrainian Classical Chess Championship among men and women were recently determined.
