Polytechnic teacher Oksana Hordiienko becomes the champion of Ukraine in the classic bench press

Master of Sports of International Class of Ukraine, powerlifting coach, senior teacher of the Department of Physical Therapy and Ergotherapy of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Oksana Hordiienko became the champion of Ukraine in the classic bench press. The athlete won the competition’s gold medal in the weight category up to 57 kg.

From March 8 to 16, in the picturesque city of Kamianets-Podilskyi, the Championships of Ukraine in the bench press and classic bench press among athletes of all age groups are being held. The large-scale sports event was opened by Mayor Mykhailo Positko, Head of the Department of Humanitarian Policy of Kamianets-Podilskyi City Council Dmytro Nazarenko and President of the Powerlifting Federation of Ukraine Sirazhutdin Bazaiev, who wished the experienced participants good luck, enthusiasm and success in overcoming the new steps of the sports Olympus. The main judge was Secretary General of the Powerlifting Federation of Ukraine Tetiana Melnyk.

More than 300 athletes from 18 regions of our country demonstrated excellent physical fitness, high results of daily training and competed for a place in the national team of Ukraine at the European Championships, which will be held in August 2023 in France. Professional sportswomen from the Poltava region also successfully performed at competitions, winning a set of honorary awards and becoming the best among opponents.

The athlete won the gold medal among M1 women in the weight category up to 57 kg and will represent our country at international competitions in France.

According to the champion Oksana Hordiienko, persistent daily training and successful performances at competitions of various levels constantly motivate her to work on herself, to become better in her chosen sport, keep going, harden her character: "I owe my victories first of all to the state-of-the-art sports base of the Poltava Polytechnic, the comfortable conditions created at the university for the full-fledged development of professional and amateur sports, and to my students, because as a coach and mentor, I have to use my own example to inspire student youth to train steel willpower, to persevere any obstacles on the way to the set ambitious goals and to win. I am sincerely glad that with high personal achievements, together with a whole galaxy of young, athletically gifted "stars", I once again confirm the leading positions of Poltava Polytechnic as one of the best universities on the sports map of the Poltava region."

It is worth noting that the coach's students have repeatedly become winners and prize-winners of All-Ukrainian, international competitions, Ukrainian, European and World Championships in classical powerlifting. In particular, recently, under the guidance of Oksana Hordiienko, Polytechnic student Dariia Holovko became the champion of Ukraine and the absolute bronze champion in powerlifting according to the IPF formula among junior girls, and student of FPCS Valeriia Koniukhova became the champion of Ukraine in powerlifting among girls.

  Previously, the teacher and students of the Polytechnic won the Championship of the Poltava region in the classic bench press, the teacher of the Polytechnic Oksana Hordiienko won the silver medal of the European Championship in powerlifting and became the world champion in the classic bench press.
