Polytechnic team wins the open All-Ukrainian financial literacy tournament "FinCup-2022"

The student team of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" became the winner of the open All-Ukrainian tournament on financial literacy "FinCup-2022". Master’s students of the Polytechnic shared life hacks on financial literacy, presenting in the format of reporting the active position of teachers and students in the charity development as part of financially literate behavior.

During November 2022 – January 2023, master’s students of the specialty 072 "Finance, banking and insurance" of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" took an active part in the open All-Ukrainian tournament on financial literacy "FinCup-2022", held with the aim of creating the foundations for improving the financial literacy of pupils and students, as a necessary condition for upgrading the level and quality of life.

The organizers of the large-scale scientific and educational event were the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and the public organization "Business Club "Partner". The activities of the participants of the national project on financial literacy were coordinated by the State Scientific Institution "Institute of Educational Content Modernization" of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" was represented by the "Finance of the Polytechnic" team, which included:

  • Mariia Bielkina – team captain, student of group 501-UFB of Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law;
  • Ivan Vertebnyi, student of group 501-UFB of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law;
  • Tetiana Zahorulko, student of group 501-UFB of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law;
  • Oleksandr Naumenko, student of group 501-UFB of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law;
  • Valeriia Pantas, student of group 501-UFB of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law;
  • Bohdan Taranets, a student of group 501-UFB of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law, silver prize winner of the All-Ukrainian competition of student research paper specializing in "Insurance".

The team perfectly coped with the assigned tasks, confirming a high level of financial literacy in the first competition stage. During the creative tournament, where members of a highly qualified jury evaluated the scientific works of 10 participants, the Poltava Polytechnic team presented an innovative project – presented the topic "Financial literacy as a basis for optimizing financial behavior in conditions of global transformation" in an interesting and unusual format. Master’s students conducted a video report from the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", in which they reflected the active position of student youth and university teachers in the development of philanthropy as part of the culture of financially literate behavior.

The members of the jury rated the competitive work with high scores for the level of disclosure of the topic, creativity of the script, content, consistency, accessibility and design of the creative work, which allowed the team to reach the finals. The team was prepared by a Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Oksana Vovchenko.

According to the results of the three rounds of the All-Ukrainian tournament on financial literacy "FinCup-2022", the team "Finance of the Polytechnic" among 44 teams of higher education institutions won the prize and was awarded a diploma of the III degree.

For the high level of preparation of the winning team, mentor Oksana Vovchenko received a personal citation from the competition organizers.

The participants of the "Finances of the Polytechnic" team and their mentor – Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Oksana Vovchenko express their sincere gratitude to the organizers of the open All-Ukrainian tournament on financial literacy "FinCup-2022" for the implementation at a high level of an important educational project that united around the concept of financial literacy young people from different parts of Ukraine and even from its borders.

It should be recalled that Poltava Polytechnic received an award from the National Bank for active participation in the all-Ukrainian initiative "Marathon of Good Deeds", and the head of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation was awarded the honorary title "Honored Worker of Poltava Polytechnic."

Previously: six female students of the Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law of Poltava Polytechnic are studying under the long-term academic mobility program in Latvia.
