On December 16, 2022, at the meeting of the specialized academic council of DF 44.052.007 of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, a postgraduate student of the Department of Building Structures Lina Klochko successfully defended her dissertation on the topic “Prediction of probable mechanisms of building destruction” for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the field of knowledge 19 “Architecture and Construction” specialty 192 “Construction and Civil Engineering”, which she completed under the supervision of Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Serhii Pichuhin. The purpose of the work was to create an algorithm for modelling the mechanism of the probable accident occurrence at a construction site.
The reviewers of the presented scientific paper were Doctor of Technical Sciences, Head of the Department of Drilling and Geology of the Educational and Research Institute of Oil and Gas, Professor Yurii Vynnykov and Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Construction and Civil Engineering of the Educational and Research Institute of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Land Management Tetiana Halinska.
The official opponents were Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Computer Technologies for Construction and Reconstruction of Airports of the National Aviation University Oleksandr Lapenko and Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Reinforced Concrete Structures of the Odessa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture Yevhenii Klymenko.
The full composition of the specialized academic council, led by the head – Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Construction and Civil Engineering Oleksandr Semko, gathered for the defence.
“The management of the university contributed to solving the issues of power supply and establishing a stable Internet connection during the complete blackout of the city of Poltava and the region due to the morning shelling of the energy infrastructure of Ukraine. The defence of the dissertation was successfully conducted online – a generator and the Starlink system were used. Difficult conditions do not stop the work of the university, since the administration of the Poltava Polytechnic took care of modern autonomous sources of energy and communication in time so that the work did not stop. Hearty congratulations to the winner and her supervisor!” – commented the reviewer, Candidate of Technical Sciences Tetiana Halinska.

It should be recalled that four scientists of the Polytechnic were awarded the Prize of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for young scientists for 2021, and the PhD student of specialty 192 “Construction and Civil Engineering” Oleksandr Drobotia became the laureate of the Prize of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Earlier, the scientists of the Polytechnic were awarded with MES honours and presented with certificates of the awarded scientific titles.
