The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine together with the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union will start distance learning course on April 5, 2022.

Registration for an express course on international humanitarian law for educators is open

Registration for the course in international humanitarian law (IHL) for educators continues until April 4, 2022.

Application form for registration

The aim of the course is to increase the professional and methodological level of lecturers for them to understand the main provisions of IHL to identify and record violations in the Russian-Ukrainian war, as well as to explain to students and the general public issues related to violations of IHL in Russian-Ukrainian war.

The express course is designed for 8 hours; the suggested topics are aimed primarily at protecting the civilian population in wartime, namely:

  • basic concepts of international humanitarian law;
  • humanitarian organizations that provide assistance during armed conflict and emergencies;
  • emblems and signs used during the armed conflict;
  • protection of civilians during armed conflict;
  • children and their protection in wartime;
  • basics of security and rules of conduct during armed conflict and other emergencies;
  • the process of recording and documenting IHL violations.
