From May 13 to 19, 2024, the first stage of the annual All-Ukrainian Road Safety Week is taking place in Ukraine as part of the implementation of the Second Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030. The events of the Week address topical issues of transport safety in Ukraine under martial law, as well as promote safe behavior on the roads and spread knowledge about road safety.
Within the Memorandum of Scientific and Educational Cooperation between National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" and the Patrol Police Office in Poltava Region of the Patrol Police Department, a series of road safety awareness events were held for the participants of the educational process.
Employees of the Patrol Police Department in Poltava Region played a thematic game with the pupils of Mr. Leader Preschool Education and Care Center of Poltava Polytechnic and talked to the little leaders about the basic rules of behavior while driving. It is pleasantly surprising that children know the rules of road behavior from an early age, and parents and kindergarten teachers deepen their knowledge using their own life and practical experience.
During the dialog with the students at the Student Hub of Poltava Polytechnic, patrol police officers told them about the different types of liability that can be incurred in case of traffic violations. The young people watched thematic videos and discussed various situations from the professional practice of patrol policemen. Maryna Zinyukha, Head of the Public Relations Department of the Patrol Police Office in Poltava Oblast, joined the conversation and noted that such educational meetings would continue. The police discussed changes to the traffic rules, analyzed the causes and specifics of accidents in Poltava Oblast, and explained the most important principles of road safety.
According to Olena Dubynka, the head of the Gender Center of Poltava Polytechnic and the university's leading legal advisor, such events with the participation of Poltava law enforcement and rescuers are regularly held with the participants of the educational process, because it is better to remind them once again to prevent a disaster.
According to her, the issues of transport safety and traffic safety in general are of particular relevance under martial law. Therefore, the legal education work will continue in conjunction with law enforcement, and we plan to implement several more joint projects.
Recently, the Polytechnic hosted a training on first aid for court security guards of Ukraine, and the trainers of the Gender Center conducted a training on the basics of first aid and tactical medicine for the student government.
