Scientists and entrepreneurs discuss the peculiarities of managing the tourism industry in modern conditions

On October 7-8, The VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Management of the Tourism Industry: Methodology and Practice" was held at the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" during which scientists and representatives of the tourism industry discussed the peculiarities of business management process in today's market as well as developed practical recommendations for improving the efficiency of economic entities in the tourism sector.

On October 7-8, the VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Management of the Tourism Industry: Methodology and Practice" was held at the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", organized by scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of International Economic Relations and Tourism of Poltava Polytechnic. Leading practitioners and scientists from Ukraine, Latvia, Poland, Estonia, Croatia, Azerbaijan, representatives of public authorities and self-government bodies of various levels of management actively participated in the conference, and presentations of interesting scientific speeches. In total, more than 100 Ukrainian and European scientists and practitioners took part in the conference. The Ukrainian science and tourism industry were represented by scientific, educational and business communities of seven regions of our country.

On behalf of the scientific and pedagogical staff and as well as student’s team of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", scientists and businessmen from around the world were solemnly greeted by Candidate of Economic Sciences, Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Work of Poltava Polytechnic Svitlana Sivitska who noted the importance of the synergistic effect of the powerful triad "science + education + business" in a successful career of university graduates.

"Large-scale scientific and practical conferences devoted to practical topical issues of tourism infrastructure, hospitality industry, exchange of experiences and practical cases with representatives of different European countries have become an integral part of scientific and educational traditions of Poltava Polytechnic. In the process of business communication, we can receive answers to the most common questions, communicate and present international experience in the tourism sector. We wish everyone fruitful discussions, interesting speeches and effective exchange of experience!", - wished Svitlana Sivitska, Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Work of Poltava Polytechnic.

The conference participants worked in six sections:

  • "The current state and prospects of developing the tourism industry. Modern approaches to preparing of specialists in "Tourism" specialty;
  • "Management of recreational resources of the region, country, and world";
  • "Innovation, investment and information management in the system of modern tourism enterprise";
  • "Management of a tourist organization as a socio-economic system. Personnel management in a modern tourist organization ";
  • "International Tourism Management. Management of risk protection, safety and competitiveness of the tourist enterprise ";
  • "Marketing and branding of tourist destinations".

The scientific discussion was moderated by the Doctor of Economics, Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor Iryna Chernysh.

"Tourism is an important part of the infrastructure of every country. After all, tourism enterprises and organizations operate in close cooperation with other economic activities, ensuring an increase in employment of the population. This, in turn, develops a positive image and attractiveness of the country as a sphere of entrepreneurship and business collaboration, promotes sustainable economic growth in the long run, attracting foreign investment in the economy, strengthening the revenue part of the state budget, improving the country's balance of payments and welfare.

The global deployment of the coronavirus pandemic has had a negative impact on all spheres of human life, including the successful functioning of tourism and hospitality spheres. Therefore, the conference directions are devoted to research and discussion of theoretical and practical issues of tourism and hospitality, prevention of the negative impact of quarantine restrictions and further ensuring the sustainability of tourism enterprises," – said Iryna Chernysh and noted the active students’ participation in organizing and conducting the conference, as well as publications of research results.

On the eve of the conference, scientific and pedagogical staff and students of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law of Poltava Polytechnic held a quest dedicated to World Tourism Day, and last year the Polytechnic presented a new tourist route.
