Scientist of the Faculty of Humanities takes part in an online training on environmental protection under the Erasmus+ program

Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation at Poltava Polytechnic Olena Dmytrenko took part in an online training on environmental protection under the Erasmus+ program. Participants discussed a number of projects that need to involve active student youth and analyzed the existing environmental risks in different European countries.

Scientist of the Faculty of Humanities of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” – Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation at the Poltava Polytechnic Olena Dmytrenko became a participant in the environmental protection project “Unterstütze junge Menschen bei der Entwicklung und Vermarktung von Problemlösungsstrategie für den Klimaschutz” under the Erasmus+ program, which took place on January 27 in an online format.

Partakers from different European countries joined the large-scale scientific intensive on global warming and climate change, discussing the most pressing global, environmental problems of mankind, analyzing existing risks and making a number of suggestions to address the consequences of the world situation.

Representative of Ukraine, Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation of Poltava Polytechnic Olena Dmytrenko presented comprehensive information in German on solving existing environmental problems in our country at the regional level. The scientist shared useful practical cases of the university’s activities in the field of environmental protection popularization.

It should be recalled that the university was awarded with the “Ecooscar” for significant achievements in the ecological transformation of the state, business and society.

Moderators of the event offered a number of international youth projects, the successful implementation of which requires the involvement of active schoolchildren and students, who will seek ways to save the planet from human activities, which are leading to air pollution, natural disasters and irreversible negative processes in the Earth’s climate.

According to scientist Olena Dmytrenko, such professional communication unites people who are not indifferent to environmental problems, active individuals who have their own “voice” in society and can really influence the solution of the most pressing environmental problems of European countries, even at the local level.

“Participation in such large-scale international trainings, youth, scientific virtual exchanges under the Erasmus+ program strongly stimulates the development of critical thinking of our scientists, increases the level of foreign language proficiency and forms additional professional competencies for future professionals. For me personally, the practical cases presented by other partakers, which demonstrated the ability of Europeans to solve urgent problems, were extremely useful. In Poltava Polytechnic much attention is paid to ecological education of comprehensively developed student youth, instilling in them pro-European thinking, skills of respect for the environment. Lecturers of our department are actively involved in scientific and educational initiatives. The future plans are to continue fruitful communication, borrowing the best European experience,” – commented Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of Germanic Philology and Translation at Poltava Polytechnic Olena Dmytrenko.

Upon completion of the online training, all participants received certificates of successful learning and agreed on priority areas of scientific as well as educational cooperation, establishing a constructive dialogue in the field of science, education, environmental knowledge.

Earlier, a lecturer at the Faculty of Humanities took part in a project to improve economic literacy and knowledge of labor law under the Erasmus+ program, a polytechnic scientist won a grant from DAAD to participate in a project on internationalization management and German-Ukrainian academic cooperation, a scientist-philologist underwent training on teamwork, communication and conflict management, and the lecturer-philologist underwent training on digital transformation of youth organizations within the framework of Erasmus+ program.
