Scientists-financiers discussed the development of the financial market of Ukraine in the context of modern globalization

On October 27, the III International Scientific and Practical Conference "Financial Market Development in Ukraine: Threats, Problems and Prospects" was held at the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", organized and conducted by polytechnic scientists. 126 scientists and experts from Ukraine, Poland, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Croatia and Kazakhstan took part in scientific discussions on financial risks and threats, and prospects for the development of the financial market.

Scientists-financiers discussed the development of the financial market of Ukraine in the context of modern globalization

Scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" organized and held the III International Scientific and Practical Conference "Financial Market Development in Ukraine: Threats, Problems and Prospects" devoted to the discussion of current global challenges and risks for the financial stability of Ukraine. Due to quarantine restrictions caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic, the scientific event with the participation of local and foreign partners of the university took place in a mixed format.

126 scientists from 13 leading higher education institutions from 9 regions of Ukraine – Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, National Institute for Strategic Studies, Lutsk National Technical University, National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Vasyl` Stus Donetsk National University, universities of Poland, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Croatia and Kazakhstan as well as practitioners, who are managers and representatives of financial institutions and public administration bodies became active attendants in scientific discussions.

The plenary session of the conference was opened by Candidate of Economic Sciences, Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Work of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Svitlana Sivitska, who emphasized the relevance of the chosen topics of the scientific event and the importance of the results of the presented researches: "Holding such a powerful international scientific and practical conference on this topic has become a good tradition of scientists of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation of Poltava Polytechnic, since the synergy of Ukrainian and European academic thought, constructive dialogue and involvement of the world's best financial practices helps to clearly understand the existing risks, assess financial and economic threats and persistently look for ways to solve the above problems. For many years, a scientific school has been operating in Poltava Polytechnic, and more than one brilliant group of experienced and young scientists has been engaged in studying the current state of the financial market in Ukraine. Therefore, I wish the participants scientific enthusiasm, interesting discussions and fruitful work!"

The plenary session was moderated by Doctor of Economics, Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor Iryna Chernysh.

The main thematic directions of the conference were:

  • Ensuring financial security of Ukraine in modern economic conditions;
  • Current problems and prospects of financial services market development: world experience and Ukrainian realities;
  • Current trends and directions of developing the money and credit market of Ukraine;
  • Financial management of business objects: problems of theory and practice;
  • Problems of accounting and taxation of business entities.

The conference participants were greeted by international partners from Odlar Yurdu University (Azerbaijan), Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University (Georgia), and Georgian Technical University. Doctor of Economics, Professor of Georgian Technical University Maia Chechelashvili presented an interesting report "Financial markets and prospects for their development in Georgia" and congratulated the participants, sincerely thanked them for their active participation, wished good health, fruitful and creative work for the future. During the speech, the speaker analyzed the main risks and shared with the audience her own vision of solving problems in the financial sphere.

Doctor of Economics, Head of the Department of Economic Theory and Economic Relations of Odlar Yurdu University (Azerbaijan) Elshad Mamedov shared practical cases of financial market development in Azerbaijan. In his report, the experienced scientist presented a brief overview of the main trends in development of the financial system of his native country and developed practical recommendations for solving some problems.

Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of Karaganda Economic University of Kazpotrebsoyuz (KEUK) Roza Nurhaliieva together with scientists of Poltava Polytechnic presented a comparative description of the regulatory support of accounting policy of enterprises of Ukraine and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Of particular interest among those present was the report "The impact of the developing financial markets on ensuring the security of small business in Ukraine" by Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of Finance of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Prominent Scientist Zakharii Varnalii.

The professional communication on topical issues of the global financial market was attended by Doctor of Economics, Advisor to the Directorate of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, Professor Nadiia Yurkiv ("Main Tasks in the field of ensuring Ukraine's financial security in modern economic conditions"), Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Finance, Banking and Insurance of Lutsk National Technical University Victoriia Dorosh ("The concept of a systematic approach to the formation of financial security of households"), Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Oksana Vovchenko ("Actualization of the content of the mechanism for ensuring the bank financial stability in terms of its components"), Independent Director of the Supervisory Board of JSC "Poltava-Bank" Volodymyr Shcherbakov ("Improving supervisory approaches to regulating the activities of banks as another step towards approximation to the world's best practices on corporate governance").

After the plenary session, the conference participants worked in five sections, where they were actively discussing the presented reports, and shared their own opinions and scientific findings. The section moderators were scientists of Poltava Polytechnic – Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation Svitlana Onyshchenko, Doctor of Economics, Head of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation, Professor Liana Ptashchenko, Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation Svitlana Yehorycheva, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation Liudmyla Svystun and Doctor of Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation of Poltava Polytechnic Alla Dmytrenko.

Summing up the conference, scientists and practitioners agreed on further fruitful scientific and educational cooperation in the field of joint projects implementation, preparation of scientific publications, articles in authoritative professional publications indexed by international databases Scopus, and Web of Science.

According to the results of the work, a collection of scientific papers of the participants of the III International Scientific and Practical Conference "Financial Market Development in Ukraine: Threats, Problems and Prospects" was published on the official website of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic".

Previously, scientists deliberated on the impact of the pandemic on Ukraine’s financial stability.
