From February 10 to February 17, 2022 on the basis of the International NGO “Universal Examination Network” (UEnet) there was held a series of online trainings for developers of the subject test in accounting and finance for the Unified Professional Entrance Examination (UPEE). The organizers of the large-scale educational event were the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the State Institution “Scientific and Methodological Center for Higher and Professional Higher Education”, which took care of creating favorable conditions for studying, high level of practical classes and constructive dialogue between scientists from different parts of our country.
National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” was represented by scientists of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law – Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation Svitlana Yehorycheva (specialty “Finance, Banking and Insurance”), Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation Yevheniia Karpenko (specialty “Accounting and Taxation”). Scientists have successfully mastered practical cases on the development of test tasks in professional disciplines for a unified professional entrance examination and shared their own experience, methodological practices in this field.
Participants of a series of online trainings got acquainted with modern European approaches to the development of test tasks, discussed the basic requirements for ensuring their quality.
The online training was moderated by the President of the international public organization “Universal Examination Network” Serhii Mudruk, who focused the audience’s attention on the psychological aspects of the testing procedure, told about the basic requirements for tests, described the levels of their complexity in order to reflect the cognitive levels, typical shortcomings in the development of test tasks and ways to avoid them to create an objective tool for assessing the competencies of applicants.
During the practical classes, accounting and finance specialists from all over Ukraine continued to acquire practical skills and deepen theoretical knowledge in the field of test tasks development, elaborated a common concept of the future subject test in accounting and finance, analyzed test tasks, discussed the shortcomings and provided effective offers to eliminate them and improve the quality of the proposed tasks.
According to the Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation at National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Svitlana Yehorycheva the experience gained by teachers will allow to introduce objective, transparent, based on modern scientifically based psychometric technologies, selection of entrants for master’s degree in relevant specialties.
“We are sure that ensuring fairness of assessment when taking the subject test in accounting and finance within the Unified Professional Entrance Examination will be achieved by creating favorable conditions for participation in testing, timely informing applicants about the subject test program, as well as providing high quality and relevance of test tasks,” – commented the scientist.
“In our opinion, the successful completion of the subject test for admission to the master’s program of Poltava Polytechnic in specialties “071 Accounting and Taxation” as well as “072 Finance, Banking and Insurance” is quite real for students who have consistently mastered the material. Of course, this will require some effort, streamlining of knowledge, repetition of some theoretical and practical issues, but the result is worth it. We wish our students success in passing the unified professional entrance examination and we are waiting for them in the master’s program!” – added Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation Yevheniia Karpenko.
Previously, scientists from the Department of Finance, Banking and Taxation developed the first module of financial literacy for teenagers, and the director of the Educational and Research Institute of FEML became its speaker, financiers discussed the development of Ukraine’s financial market in the current globalization, and future financiers learned how to invest savings and increase personal financial literacy.
