President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Anatolii Zahorodnii and Director of the E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Ihor Krivtsun solemnly unveiled the bas-relief and addressed all those present at the ceremony with warm words of remembrance of Borys Yevhenovych, his way of life, human qualities and a huge scientific and cultural heritage.
“This is just one of the events. The State Prize in Science and Technology has already been renamed as the Borys Paton National Prize of Ukraine. The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine launched the Borys Paton Gold Medal for scientific and technical drafts and honors for young scientists, since Borys Yevhenovych cared about recruitment among scientists and considered the support talented youth as one of the main tasks, and only in this he saw further development,” – commented the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Anatolii Zahorodnii.
“I had the honor to be present at such a historic event, as it is not only an extraordinary figure that inspires me, it is personal acquaintance and high honor of receiving the award of the State Prize in Science and Technology from his hands, an obligation to keep a high bar of new achievements. It is very significant that the highest state award for scientists now also bears his name.
I am proud that more than 13 years ago an agreement between the National Academy of Sciences and Poltava Polytechnic was concluded, signed personally by Borys Paton. The agreement was transferred to the museum and has historical value. A new history of cooperation has begun. Also, 16 scientific institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine have agreements with Poltava Polytechnic. During these years of cooperation we have conducted thirteen International scientific and practical conferences “Academic and University Science: Results and Prospects”, which has become a traditional event for leading scientists of Ukraine and the world. The staff of the Polytechnic is always waiting for this special scientific event in December.
The conference raises issues of abstract and natural sciences, economics, ecology, engineering and technology, presents the joint research results of scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, identifies prospects for further research, preparing of specialists and scientific personnel.
The entire Ukrainian scientific community honors the outstanding Genius of the era and the Great Scientist!” – commented the rector of Poltava Polytechnic Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
