On December 6, a networking event organized by the Central Ukrainian Section of the Society Of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the Student Branch of the Society Of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) of Poltava Polytechnic was held at the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”.
The Head of the Ukrgasvydobuvannya Analysis and Modeling Department, honorary master of Poltava Polytechnic Viacheslav Filatov moderated the event and set the audience up for an open dialogue.
At the beginning of the meeting, the participants were greeted by the rector of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, the vice-president of the Ukrainian Oil and Gas Academy, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko and the head of the company “Geosynthesis engineering”, a graduate of the university and honorary master of the Poltava Polytechnic Ivan Polituchyi.
“Motivated students – members of SPE gathered for an extremely interesting meeting with business representatives. The meeting moderator is a specialist of an extremely high level who shares knowledge, gives constructive and very important advice on how to reveal one’s scientific and creative skills. One has to be able to use knowledge. I am proud that business representatives came to the meeting, especially from such a cool company as “Geosynthesis engineering”.
We form a community of people who motivate for success and career growth. And it is very important that at such meetings, future experts in the field also gain professional knowledge. Such sites, a kind of information laboratories in which business invests, are very interesting and promising for young people, and the university is always open to communication,” – noted the rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
The company “Geosynthesis engineering” provides methodical assistance to Poltava Polytechnic in improving educational programs for students of oil and gas production specialties and actively participates in the creation of the latest laboratories, such as the laboratory of drilling fluids and process fluids, the unique Apple computer training centre, etc.
The production activity of “Geosynthesis engineering” LLC is focused on the development, implementation, author’s support of drilling fluids and flushing fluids for wells completion.

The key speaker of the meeting was the head of the thermobaric research sector of “Geosynthesis engineering” Nazar Zholob, who presented the research results and told the students about modern drilling fluids. Future professionals learned about the innovative development of various formulations of technological fluids for drilling, major repair and well casing. After the report, a lively discussion emerged between the meeting participants and the speaker.
Pierre Emmanuel, head of SPE in Europe, joined the discussion in online format. An oil and gas specialist of an international level named the important aspects that young engineers and students should pay attention to, talked about his path to becoming a specialist, inspiring students by his example.
Not only industry professionals, but also students and teachers of the Poltava Polytechnic Educational and Research Institute of Oil and Gas and the Poltava College of Oil and Gas had the opportunity to take part in the discussion of topical issues of the innovative technologies in the oil and gas industry introduction. The Deputy Director for scientific issues of the company “Geosynthesis engineering”, Ph.D. Yurii Luban and scientists of the Poltava Polytechnic ERI of Oil and Gas – Director of the Educational and Production Centre, Honoured Worker of the Industry of Ukraine Petro Holub, Head of the Department of Drilling and Geology, Professor Yurii Vynnykov, Associate Professor of the Department of Drilling and Geology, Laureate of the President of Ukraine Prize for Young Scientists Maksym Kharchenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering and Technologies Viktoriia Dmytrenko joined the discussion of topical issues of the innovative technologies introduction in oil and gas production.
The event organizers note that professional dialogue between representatives of business companies, scientists and students of the Poltava Polytechnic contributes to the acquisition of relevant competencies and the building of a successful professional career.
Earlier, the head of the SPE student branch of the Poltava Polytechnic held a class at the “Drilling Site” educational and scientific training ground.
It should be recalled that Ukrnafta has announced the start of a scholarship program for students of the Poltava Polytechnic.
