Sports All-Ukrainian flash mob “White card” takes place at Poltava Polytechnic

Students of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of Poltava Polytechnic supported the All-Ukrainian flash mob “White card” dedicated to the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” was awarded the golden award “Partner Institution” of Ukrainian Federation “Sport for Development” for the fruitful cooperation and partnership in the implementation of the concept “Sport for Development” in Ukraine and active participation.

Students of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of Poltava Polytechnic joined the All-Ukrainian flash mob “White card” dedicated to the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. The most active sportsmen and sportswomen, members of sports clubs of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” showed their sports skills and the “white card” in the name of peace and tranquillity in the whole world.

“As a progressive university, we promote sports movements among modern youth and take comprehensive care of the student sports development. As a multidisciplinary classical university, we are proud of the new generation of champions, winners and prize-winners of prestigious sports tournaments, sports stars who study here. And we are happy to support various recreational activities and sports initiatives.

Sport has an extraordinary power to unite people around peace, friendship and development. I am convinced that the victory and future of post-war Ukraine belong to active, educated, athletic and patriotic youth! Glory to Ukraine!” – stressed the head of Student Sports Union in the Poltava Region and Ukrainian Federation of Student Sports in the Poltava Region, Acting Rector of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.

In total, more than 200 thousand participants from pre-school education, general secondary and extracurricular education, vocational, professional pre-higher and higher education institutions all over Ukraine took part in the flash mob.

The Ukrainian Federation of Sport for Development awarded the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” with the golden award “Partner Institution” for the fruitful cooperation and partnership in the implementation of the Sport for Development concept in Ukraine as well as for the active participation in various events.

It should be recalled that on 6 April the world celebrated the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. This day was not chosen by chance. It was on 6 April 1894 that the First Olympic Games began in Athens. On 23 August 2013, the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution stating that “healthy lifestyles, physical and intellectual activity are the key to shared prosperity and well-being”.

Sport for Peace and Development is the key wording of this international event, which emphasises the importance and necessity of this type of universal activity for society, the state, governmental and non-governmental organisations. Ukraine annually joins the celebration of this holiday.

It should be recalled that Poltava Polytechnic is one of the five universities that will implement the governmental pilot project for veterans.

Recently, 28 students of the Poltava region became ambassadors of the Gender Centre of Poltava Polytechnic, Honoured Master of Sports, champion of Ukraine Anastasiia Kovalenko conducts training at the Sports Billiards Club of the university, a second-year student of FPCS Pavlo Korobov became the champion of Ukraine in Cossack fighting, students of the university became winners and prize-winners of the XX Ukrainian Cheerleading Championship, silver medallists of the Ukrainian Kettlebell Lifting Championship among students of higher education institutions.
