On April 18-21, 2023, master’s students of specialty 292 "International Economic Relations" of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Diana Kudriashova and Anastasiia Kupach underwent the training "EU's Best Practices in Life Cycle Assessment, Social, Environmental Accounting and Reporting on Sustainable Development" in the "Spring School-2023" of the Jean Monnet project under the Erasmus+ programme.
During four busy days, the students studied:
- sustainable development goals: global and local contexts;
- the concept of life cycle assessment (LCA) of the Sustainable Development Goals;
- standardization and procedures of LCA;
- software for LCA and its application in decision-making practice;
- principles of social and environmental accounting: social and business discourses on sustainable development;
- social accountability and social accounting. Environmental accounting;
- sustainability reporting and assurance;
- audit of sustainable development reporting.
During the training, the participants also considered real projects of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals from leading scientists of Ukraine – doctoral student of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine); visiting researcher of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (Poland); executive director of the Public Union "Network of Local Economic Development Agencies" Iryna Kostecka ("Development of community projects to achieve the sustainable development goals"), Doctor of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, professor of the Department of Accounting, Auditing and Taxation of the State Biotechnology University (Kharkiv) Stanislav Vasylishyn ("Achieving sustainable business development: transformation of the mission of professional accountants and financiers"), Professor, Expert on CSR & Sustainability & University Social Responsibility & Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting Analyst Inna Khovrak ("From selecting to successfully using sustainability reporting frameworks: experience of Norway and Poland for Ukraine").
The content of the completed training corresponds to the general and professional competencies of future specialists in specialty 292 "International economic relations". The master's students were able not only to strengthen their knowledge of international relations for the sake of environmental protection and the implementation of the global Sustainable Development Goals, but also to work with professionals-practitioners and discuss with them current issues related to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in the post-war period in Ukraine.
It should be recalled that female Polytechnic students are studying under the Erasmus+ academic exchange programme at the Bialystok University of Technology.
Earlier, philological scientists exchanged experience regarding the implementation of innovative technologies in the process of foreign language training of specialists.
