On February 15, the State Scientific and Technical Library of Ukraine with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine hosted a preliminary presentation of the National Electronic Scientific Information System URIS in preparation for its public launch.
The system was created to monitor the scientific and technical activities of employees of scientific and educational institutions as well as to increase the efficiency of management decision-making in a scientific sphere in the use of material and financial resources. URIS will combine data on scientific institutions, scientists, projects, publications and research infrastructures, automate the procedures of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (including certification, accreditation and record keeping) as well as provide useful information for scientists, authors and editors of scientific publications.
The organizers of the event spoke about global trends in the creation and development of scientific information systems in the Netherlands, Slovenia, Norway, India, Finland and Croatia, practitioners presented the capabilities of the Ukrainian URIS system, the participants of the presentation discussed the strengths and weaknesses of the presented electronic scientific information system URIS.
With the introduction of this system, researchers will receive a single access point to research information, funding organizations will be able to track the results of funded research more easily. Business representatives will have a simplified procedure for finding promising technologies, the public and journalists – data on key areas of the national scientific and technical sphere, and the authorities – analytical data for management decision-making.
Earlier, the SSTL of Ukraine published a list of Ukrainian scientific journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science.
