The Rector of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, congratulated the Master of Sports of International Class of Ukraine, the world champion in table tennis, the multiple champion of Ukraine in table tennis, Maksym Ovcharenko, a student of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, and an Honored Coach of Ukraine Mykola Zakladnyi on his/their triumphant return from China. A series of successful performances at the World Table Tennis Championships for athletes with hearing impairments came to an end in Taipei.
"It is extremely gratifying that such active, athletically gifted young people glorify Ukraine, and Poltava Polytechnic in particular, at a high international level.
I gladly support our athletes who achieve new victories in various sports, set ambitious goals for themselves and confidently achieve them! We are proud of your significant achievements!
An absolute victory at the world tournament is a significant personal contribution to the approach of our joint Victory! Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Ukrainian athletes!" – commented the Rector of Poltava Polytechnic, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
Maksym Ovcharenko, a student of group 201-FS of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, was awarded the University Citation for his high sports achievements in table tennis at the 2023 World Championship and his significant contribution to the development of physical culture and sports of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic".
"When you stand on the winner's podium to the sounds of the national anthem of Ukraine, you are overwhelmed with special, incomparable emotions, full of pride for your indomitable country. I am glad that with my own victories I am announcing Ukraine to the whole civilized world!" – said student-champion Maksym Ovcharenko.
The head of Poltava Polytechnic also awarded the honored table tennis coach of Ukraine Mykola Zakladnyi with the University Citation, expressing his respect and appreciation for the cooperation and the quality training of the table tennis students, who increase the sporting glory of Poltava Polytechnic, Poltava region and Ukraine.
"When I was young, Mykola Zakladnyi was also my table tennis coach, who taught me how to win. I am grateful to my wise coaches — Volodymyr Vasylovich Kelbin, Hryhorii Hryhorovych Stiehneiev, and Mykola Hryhorovych Zakladnyi, who contributed to my development as a top-level athlete: a candidate for master of sports in table tennis and taught me to confidently choose Victory!" – noted Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
It should be recalled that at the World Table Tennis Championship among athletes with hearing impairments, the student of FPCS Maksym Ovcharenko became a gold medalist and won a full set of awards of the prestigious world tournament.
