Open Gov Week is held every year from May 8 to 12 in the countries that are participants of the Open Government Partnership international initiative. This is a unique opportunity for citizens, business representatives, the student community and state public authorities to exchange experience, creative ideas and innovative practical cases in the field of open governance.
On May 10, in order to join the annual initiative, students of specialty 281 “Public Management and Administration” of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” together with the President of the Student Parliament Artem Loik, Assistant to the Rector for Youth Policy Ivan Ksenzhuk, a student of the specialty 292 “International Economic Relations” Kseniia Kolomiiets became participants in the project “Student Youth and Authorities: Openness, Partnership, Dialogue”, conducted on the basis of the Poltava Regional Military Administration. During the meeting, the young people of the Poltava Polytechnic talked with the employees of the apparatus, the leaders of the Poltava RMA, got acquainted with the specifics of the activities of the regional bodies of executive power and public administration, and visited the key working locations of the Poltava Regional Military Administration.
The purpose of the established constructive dialogue was to deepen the knowledge of future specialists in the field of public administration, to familiarize them with the system of local self-government bodies, the work of regional executive bodies, and to motivate ambitious young people to enter public service in order to improve the welfare of the Poltava region.
The proposed format of the meeting included communication between students of the Poltava Polytechnic with the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, Dmytro Lunin, who shared his own practical experience of professional activity in local self-government bodies. Those receiving higher education participated in an active discussion of the issues of activity and functioning of the regional administration in wartime conditions. The future public managers showed special interest in the discussion about the most effective tools of electronic communication with citizens in the conditions of the legal martial law regime, useful applications and information channels in the conditions of war, issues of public administration, reforms, anti-corruption activities and civic participation.
Practical cases of managerial activity were also shared with the youth of the university by the Deputy Head of Poltava RMA Oleksii Bruslyk and the Deputy Head of Poltava RMA for digital development, digital transformations and digitalization Ihor Panchenko, who spoke in detail about the job functions, tasks and issues they face in their daily work professional activity.
The held joint event became another important step towards supporting constructive and effective communication of state authorities with the young generation, future leaders of social change in the Poltava region.
It should be recalled that for the eleventh year in a row, Ukraine is an active participant in the European initiative and has repeatedly been recognized as the leader of the international Open Government Partnership.
Recently, scientists, students and practitioners exchanged useful cases in the field of public administration on the basis of the Department of the National Mediation and Conciliation Service in the Poltava region, future professionals learned how to overcome barriers in communication with employers, scientists and architectural students presented the pilot project of the first “no-barriers” school in Poltava, students-future public managers got acquainted with the work of the Poltava RMA, future lawyers deepened their knowledge of tax legislation by getting acquainted with the work of the Payer Service Center of the State Tax Inspectorate in the city of Poltava.
Previously, future lawyers study the basics of legal clinical practice with experienced specialists, and Professor Anton Stolitnii conducts consultations for students as part of a training course on criminal procedure.
