The department is designed for 25 young patients, and every day one of them needs medicine or the help of blood donors. Moreover, they are in need of care and inspiration to fight the disease.

"We are able to give attention, support, and help. Talking to the head of the department and parents, we learned what can make children happy. Our students respond very actively to charity events, especially those concerning children. Therefore, we quickly collected gift packages – everything for drawing, board games and a few allowed treats for tea," – said President of the Student Parliament Liudmyla Bylym.

Patients not only from Poltava, but also from all over the region are treated in the pediatric hematology oncology department. The stay in the department can last from a month to six months, so various benefactors take care not only of the material and technical support of the department, but also of maintaining comfortable living conditions for children.

The volunteer detachment of Poltava Polytechnic actively cooperates with medical and social institutions of Poltava, as well as implements charitable initiatives.

This year "Polytechnic Volunteers" were noted for their active civic position, charity and support of youth initiatives. In the summer, the Polytechnic volunteers presented a festival to the disciples of the Sofia Rusova Art Lyceum, and later they became volunteers and participants in the annual large-scale half marathon from "Nova Poshta".
