A few years in a row the oil and gas education efficiency is evaluated by the Newfolk Industry Rating. As for today, approximately 500 students and 100 teachers have taken the test.
Among this year’s participants there were Bachelor’s and Master’s students, as well as the graduates of the Educational and Research Institute of Oil and Gas of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and Poltava Oil and Gas College of Yuri Kondratyuk National University.
“This test is special because the questions have been created by working specialists: engineers, mechanics who work in the oil and gas field. The results will show the students how close they got to the production. Now not only the higher education institutions are interested in this test, but also many companies, including the government-owned ones, looking at the university leavers through the industry rating,” Newfolk Director Andriy Zakrevs’kyi told us about one of the common projects of Oil and Gas Consulting Center Newfolk and National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”. He thanked the University administration, because National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” is the first higher education institution to agree first of all to test its science and pedagogical workers, and then has extended the practice on the students.
Poltava Oil and Gas College of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” Director Liubov Shums’ka added on the advantages of industry rating introduction, “We gladly supported the idea to take the professional competence test, as it is of great interest for the university to prepare specialists who will not need being taught additionally. Besides traditional methods of controlling students’ knowledge, the introduction of the industry rating allows us to evaluate how well we prepare specialists. As for teachers this is an indication; they can understand what should be changed, where help is needed, how we should correct the study plan to give the students maximum knowledge.”

After passing the test, students will receive certificates which they can show their employer as the confirmation of their knowledge and professional competence level. The winner of the test will get a prise - the one who shows the best results will be able to attend professional events, forums free of charge, take part in industry conferences, communicate with leading oil and gas companies directors. The name of this year’s winner was announced at the end of the 5th International Industry Forum “Hydrocarbon Production Enhancement at Oil and Gas Fields of Ukraine”. This was forth year student of Educational and Research Institute of Oil and Gas Dmytro Krut’ko.
