Students of group 201-TK of the Department of Computer and Information Technologies and Systems Yurii Halushko (Educational and Research Institute of IT and Robotics) and group 201-FP of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy Maksym Postil (Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy) within the framework of the international project “Build the Earth” constructed a National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” in the world of Minecraft.
In the virtual space, the territory of the university and campuses were completely recreated. The project is stored on the server and can be visited at any time. To do this, one need to use a licensed copy of the Minecraft game to connect to the server at the IP cis.buildtheearth.net (game version – from 1.12.2 to 1.18). After that, one should enter the /warp ua_plt_nupp command.
“The reconstruction of Poltava in the world of Minecraft has been going on for over 2 years. The university project was started in the winter of this year and finished last week. However, there was a big pause in the spring due to the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine.
The creation of the university was inspired by the thought that more people would be able to learn about this project and help in it. I also just wanted my project to include the university where I study.
My friend and I tried to make everything as detailed and reliable as possible. We used a lot of different data so that everything was relevant and similar to reality. Unfortunately, it was impossible to build the interiors due to the features of the game,” – said Yurii Halushko.
Build the Earth is an international project, the main goal of which is to create a copy of the planet Earth on a scale of 1 to 1 in Minecraft. A huge number of participants from different countries recreate their own cities. So the Polytechnic students together with the team are rebuilding Ukraine in virtual space. In the Ukrainian team, Poltava is the most “built-up” city.
Previously, the Polytechnic team “Not Today” won the regional esports tournament RectorsCyberCup’22.
It should be recalled that the university is implementing a dual education project with the SoftServe Company for third-year students majoring in “Computer Engineering” and “Computer Science”, and the Polytechnic is also joining the international educational project of Ukraine Global Faculty.
