Scientists of Poltava College of Oil and Gas of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Sofiia Rudenko and Olena Marchenko joined the 26th International Conference ICAMES 2022 (International Cultural and Academic Meeting of Engineering Students), which took place from 10 to 16 May 2022 in Istanbul (Turkey). More than eighty future engineers from fourteen countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and North America actively shared their experience and achievements in the field of engineering education.

It should be recalled that ICAMES is an international academic, scientific and cultural competition project conducted annually by the Boğaziçi University Engineering Society (ENSO) with the support of the University’s Rectorate, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and the Scientific as well as Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK). The competition included a variety of social activities – a campus-day, a cultural evening, "Turkish night", a historical tour of Istanbul, a presentation of projects in English.

"The rich program of the international event contained many interesting locations, master classes and excursions to the sights of the Turkish capital. We had tremendous pleasure from communicating with young people from around the world, were inspired by the culture of the participating countries, discussed the issues that currently concern the world the most," – said scientist Olena Marchenko.

According to the participants, the most important task for each was to convey to the world community the facts that clearly testify to the high level of danger of Russia's military aggression against Ukraine at the political, economic, human rights levels and in terms of environmental damage.

"One thing is clear now: the world is changing – and our future will depend on these changes. What will it be like? We are sure that it will be worthy and peaceful," – believe the participants.

The scientists presented their own English-language projects, which were evaluated by members of the international professional jury according to the following criteria: scientific and technical level of work, originality, quality of presentation and demonstration of work performed. Scientists, practitioners from leading countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and North America highly praised the level of research presented and wished Ukrainian colleagues a peaceful sky, favorable conditions for the development of science and the reconstruction of a young European state.

"For me personally, the experience of participating in large-scale international projects of academic mobility, scientific and practical conferences, educational trainings, seminars is not new. However, for the first time in the conditions of a full-scale war on the territory of Ukraine, we talked with representatives of the world scientific community about the most important things for us, Ukrainians. We hope that the experience gained and professional communication with European professionals will allow Ukrainian science to move forward at a rapid pace. After all, for each of us, our students and graduates is the future of the whole nation, which is in dire need of new experience, necessary practical knowledge and skills," – commented the teacher of the cycle commission of humanitarian training of Poltava College of Oil and Gas of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" – Sofiia Rudenko.

Earlier, teachers and students of the university and college took part in the Erasmus+ project in Turkey, and a teacher at the Poltava College of Oil and Gas participated in the Erasmus+ international training programme "Waste Recycling: International Experience".
