With the support of the Centre for Culture and Student Creativity, National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" hosted the premiere of a new charity performance " Peaky Blinders ", prepared by the actors of the student theatre "Carpe Diem". This is the third significant performance in their repertoire.

The student actors staged a play based on the gangster series, trying to reveal the symbolism of the concept of Family and what people are capable of when driven by envy of others' success, meanness and greed. The students wrote the text themselves, reinterpreting the interpretation of timeless themes, slightly changing the plot of the crime drama series of the same name. The events of the 20s are set in Birmingham, England, where the family of the protagonist, Thomas Shelby, has been living and sometimes getting rich illegally for many years. The similarity of the play to the aforementioned TV series is exhausted, because according to Anna Moroz, artistic director of Poltava Polytechnic's "Carpe Diem" theatre, script writer, stage director, student of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy, this play is just a kind of echo, an appeal to the TV series, the author's concept of the work.

The entrance ticket was a donation to support the unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine where the famous theatre and film actor, Honoured Artist of Ukraine, our countryman Bohdan Cherniavskyi serves.

Rector, Doctor of Economics, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko and the mother of the defender, director of the "Na Pavlenkakh" amateur theatre Halyna Cherniavska congratulated the talented youth of Poltava Polytechnic on the new creative benefit.

"Poltava Polytechnic, as a leading classical university of our country, continues to surprise us with the versatility of its students' talents!

We live in a difficult time, when even art is a powerful weapon in the war for our future, and artists take up real weapons. And in the confrontation with the enemy, we are inspired only by true values and unity.

Over the past year, Poltava's theatre community has been enriched by a young and vibrant student group - the troupe of the "Carpe Diem" University Theatre. Today, we are pleased to see the creative benefit of the amateur group, which has prepared a new premiere. This is a drama about moral choice, about honesty and openness to each other, about the opportunity to make this world and ourselves in it much better, brighter and more moral. Thank you for these moments of complete immersion in theatre magic and thoughts about the main thing!

We thank the defender's mother, director of the "Na Pavlenkakh" amateur theatre, a well-known theatre worker, dear Halyna Cherniavska, who personally came to the screening!

Thank you, dear students, for finding the strength and desire to develop your own talents and give positive emotions to your friends, fellow students and teachers in this difficult time for the country. Don't stop there, continue to be creative and work on yourself to enjoy the happy moments of your student life despite the war!

We are proud that you use your talent to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine! Keep up the good work! Glory to Ukraine!" Rector, Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko congratulated the students. According to the theatre tradition, the rector presented the actors with flowers and sweet gifts to celebrate the success of the performance.

The audience gave a standing ovation to the actors and the creative team: Grace Helen - Anna Moroz (201-FO), Thomas Shelby - Pavlo Yavtushenko (401-FR), Arthur Shelby - Artem Obidny (201-FO), John Shelby - Vadym Zhdanov (201-ME), Fin Shelby - Pavlo Korobov (203-FS), Aunt Polly - Polina Vasylenko (201-FO), Esme Lee - Daryna Lipovska (201-FO), Irene Sabini - Ksenia Zelenenka (201-FO), Jack - Oleksandr Bersym (201-FR), Lizzie - Laura Kryvonos (201-ER), Baron Lee - Stanislav Hladkyi (201-AR), Priest - Vitalii Troianskyi (201-ME), Gypsies - Daria Lavrenko (202-FF), Margarita Zygun (101-FDN), 101-VT, Marina Mikhailova (501-FF), sound engineer Alina Krikun (201-FO), designer Oleksandr Bilous (201-FP).

"Dear young friends, students! It's nice that the theatre community has been replenished with a whole student team. The main thing in our art is to carry a certain mission, to convey to the audience the ideals of goodness, beauty, and justice. In the presented work, you have to pick up this lesson for life - the problem of choosing a life path. After all, when you act untruthfully, life takes revenge on you. Thank you for taking the time to give your soul. It is our common understanding of the need for a moral choice in favour of good that makes the world a better place," said Halyna Cherniavska, director of the "Na Pavlenkakh" amateur theatre.

According to Hlib Kudriashov, Head of Culture and Student Creativity Centre of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", the new premiere can be called a special celebration in honour of the muse of Melpomene Theatre: "It's nice that talented young people, inspired and interested in giving their talent to every spectator, gather at Poltava Polytechnic. On behalf of the theatre troupe, I would like to thank everyone who came to the meeting with the student theatre and made their contribution to support our defenders.

I am sure that it is a great pleasure for the rector of a classical university to see the success of his students, because when he works for them to be successful, to create a creative laboratory, to realise any talents, it is a great happiness for the youth and the whole university. Poltava Polytechnic is extremely lucky to have a leader who does not stay away from any creative initiatives. For more than 1.5 years of the full-scale invasion, the university has held a number of charity concerts and volunteer projects. Our future plans include the implementation of new creative ideas, interesting performances, and comprehensive support for joint university initiatives."

Earlier, the student theatre "Carpe Diem" of Poltava Polytechnic presented two charity performances in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Recently, the Veteran Development Centre of Poltava Polytechnic hosted a creative meeting with Pavlo Kazarin, a personal exhibition of student Valeriia Nosyk was opened at the university, and the Centre of Choreographic Art hosted the debut and initiation of freshmen.
