The European Commission accepts energy efficiency projects for the competition to receive a grant under the "Horizon Europe" program

Scientists working on the development of tools for modeling, optimization and planning of the energy system have the opportunity to receive a grant under the "Horizon Europe" program for winning the competition "Sustainable, Secure and Competitive Energy Supply".

The aim of the project is to find better ideas for planning and optimizing the expansion of energy production, transmission and storage systems to meet (future) energy needs aggregated at the level of detail.

The competition project should be aimed at creating customizable models of open source energy system components, as well as tools for assembling individual components into an energy system model that integrates infrastructure related to all energy carriers into the selected geographical area with the capabilities of static and dynamic modeling.

The developed open source tool will better plan and optimize the development of renewable and low-emission energy sources and improve infrastructure (including storage) to meet future energy needs in the geographical area, minimizing overall investment and operating costs, and thus meet future end-use energy (sometimes as raw materials) by consumers at the lowest cost and with better quality of service.

Acceptance of projects for participation in the competition lasts until April 26, 2022.

More detailed information and the budget of the competition can be found at the link.

It should be recalled that the selection for the Euroschools 2022 is underway.
