The First Technology and Innovation Support Center in Poltava Region Opened at Polytechnic

On March, 23, the representatives of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Institute of Intellectual Property” (Ukrpatent) opened the first Technology and Innovation Support Center at National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”, which will provide comprehensive consultations and support in the of intellectual property rights in Ukraine and abroad for the representatives of small and medium business, start-ups, inventors and creative industries.

The First Technology and Innovation Support Center in Poltava Region Opened at Polytechnic

The TISC Project of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has been realized since 2009 in more than 80 countries of the world. It has been realized in Ukraine since 2018 within the Memorandum on mutual understanding between the Ministry of Economic Growth and Trade of Ukraine and WIPO concerning the creation of Technology and Innovation Support Centers in Ukraine. The Central TISC functions at the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Institute of Intellectual Property” (Ukrpatent) and coordinates the activity of the regional centers across Ukraine. The TISC of Poltava region will operate at National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic".

The new innovative location at Poltava Polytechnic was opened by Rector of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Affairs of Poltava Polytechnic Svitlana Sivitska, Director for Developing Relations in the Intellectual Property Field of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Institute of Intellectual Property” Danylo Tsvok, Deputy Head of Department of Operation of Technology Support Centers of Ukrpatent Serhii Brudniak, and Expert of intellectual property issues of Ukrpatent Bohdana Maliutiak, heads of education and research institutes and faculties of our university.

The list of competences of TISC covers all the possible issues of acquiring, using and protecting the intellectual property rights, as well as related issues the solutions of which are necessary to the appliers. The educational activities of TISC is intended for increasing the level of knowledge about the methods of protecting the intellectual property, building the legal cultures of consuming intellectual property among the population, and deepening the communication with stakeholders in the innovative and creative space in Ukraine.

“Yet another pleasant and important event took place in the university life that became a proof of the university’s dynamic development as a powerful innovation center of Poltava oblast, in which several generations of highly-qualified experts and scientists do research. Our higher education institution confidently joins the team of the leading Ukrainian universities that have the Technology and Innovation Support Centers. It is pleasant to be a part of this innovative system, since our university has a branched scientific and laboratory system, which includes the only startup school of Poltava region opened together with the SIKORSKY CHALLENGE innovative company. That is why the participation in the program of TISC chain is a part of the university strategy on stimulating the development of innovations and finding investments with the help of providing access to the technologies and increasing the efficiency of research activities, and the commercialization of scientific services,” Rector of our university Volodymyr Onyshchenko commented.

At the beginning of March, Polytechnic signed the Memorandum on Partnership and Cooperation in the Educational and Scientific Fields with the Executive Committee of Poltava City Council and the Contract on Creating in Poltava an innovative cluster together with SIKORSKY CHALLENGE.

“It is important to mention that National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” became the first university of Poltavshchyna to open a Technology and Innovation Support Center. The key aspects of our company’s activity are the understanding of the uniqueness of every invention, its protection, acquiring the appropriate intellectual property right, and the commercialization of the scientific research. Our centers are based on these three “pillars” of activity; they will hold specialized courses and provide consultations to those inventors and sturtupers who plan to start their business and receive a real protection,” Director for Developing Relations in the Intellectual Property Field of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Institute of Intellectual Property” Danylo Tsvok commented.

Presenting the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Institute of Intellectual Property” (Ukrpatent), Director for Developing Relations in the Intellectual Property Field of the company signed the Memorandum on Partnership and Cooperation with National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” and a contract on participation in the program of TISC, introduced by the World Intellectual Property Organization. According to the Memorandum, the cooperation with cover the realization of intellectual property protection projects, organization of joined seminars, symposiums and other events.

Deputy Head of Department of Operation of Technology Support Centers of Ukrpatent Serhii Brudniak presented the main directions of activity of the newly opened Technology and Innovation Support Center.

“Innovations are the priority of our activity, and we proudly remember the inventor that our university is named after to once again see that dreams come true with Poltava Polytechnic. University is open for cooperation. We will fill add even more important things to our workdays,” Rector of National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko added.
