The Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program offers two semesters of study at one of the five Polish academic centers (Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, Poznan and Lublin) as well as at least two weeks of professional internships in public, private and non-governmental organizations. The program aims to develop the professional competencies of young leaders and experts with higher education, interested in the development of democracy, economy and civil society in their country.
Requirements for candidates: young professionals under the age of 40 who have at least a bachelor’s degree at the time of application as well as work experience of at least 2 years. Knowledge of Polish is required, at least at B2 level.
The program offers the following specialties:
- economics and management;
- governance in business, culture, environmental protection, health care;
- state administration (public authorities and self-government bodies);
- law;
- social sciences (social psychology, sociology);
- political science and international relations;
- environmental and climate protection;
- security and cybersecurity issues;
- crisis management;
- development policy and humanitarian aid.
The basis for obtaining a diploma of graduation is the preparation and defence of a degree thesis, which may be scientific or practical.
Contestants will have the opportunity to receive free university tuition and a scholarship of 18,000 zlotys (paid in 9 installments for 9 months). In addition, the program administrator provides approximately 4,200 zlotys/month on: accommodation during the entire stay in Poland; insurance; one ticket to Poland in both ways (up to the agreed amount); public transport cards; visa costs; research materials; participation in the introductory course and congresses of grantees; Polish language course (October-May).
Approximately 45 best candidates will be selected in a 3-stage candidate evaluation process:
- consideration of applications for eligibility criteria;
- consideration of studying projects offered by candidates by independent experts;
- interview (scheduled for March 28 - April 29, 2022).
Candidates who have passed the third stage will be notified via e-mail by March 25, 2022. Information on the final nominations will be sent to the candidates in May 2022.
The application deadline is March 1, 2022. Applications received after this deadline will not be considered.
