The Participants of the Plenary Meeting of the Faculty of Humanities Discuss Informative Communication, Translation Peculiarities and Literature Studies

On May 12, the teachers and students of the Faculty of Humanities took part in the summarizing plenary meeting within the 72nd Scientific Conference of Professors, Teachers, Academic Staff, Post-Graduates and Students of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the higher education institution.

The plenary meeting was joined by 75 students and academic staff within the science fest at the Faculty of Humanities of National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic”.

In total, at the meetings of the faculty sections - the sections of Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation, German Philology and Translation, General Linguistics and Foreign Languages, 54 scientific reports were presented by the academic staff and the students.

The scientists discussed the relevant theoretic and practical problems of documental and informative communication during globalization, the spiritual culture of Ukraine and the world, industry translation, comparative linguistics, the history of translation, literary translation, the theory of literature studies and foreign philology. The representatives of academic community were able to join the scientific conversation online and at Facebook and Instagram.

The teachers and students of the Faculty of Humanities discussed the presentation of the Doctor of Pedagogy, Associate Professor Oksana Tur “The Peculiarities of the Function of Lexical Contractions in the Ukrainian Language at its Modern Stage of Development”.

The current problems of intercultural communication and the translation of realia words (with examples from the French language) were presented by PhD in Philology, Associate Professor Yuliia Kuznetsova. The presenter described the theoretic aspects of the topic with interesting and informative examples.

The peculiarities of Roald Dahl’s prose works was presented by Doctor of Philology, Professor Tetiana Kushnirova. The author analyzed the famous English writer’s original style using the collection of works “The Landlady”. The researcher drew a generalized conclusion that the play of sense shades and tones, the combination of real facts and terrible fantasy, dark humour and horror literature form Roald Dahl’s unique style which is a clear example of post-modern literature.

The plenary meeting was held in the form of scientific discussion with bright visualization of the results of detailed scientific research.
