On June, 10th Poltava National Technical Yurii Kondratyuk University was visited by 12 schoolchildren and their 12 coaches from the USA through the program “Youth Leadership Through Sports”, led by the U.S. government and realized by the Embassy of the United States of America in Ukraine, PH International and Coaches Across Continents. The programme purpose is the exchange of amateur sportspeople – both students and coaches.
This program is realized at the premises of PoltNTU under the aegis of Ukrainian Federation of Students Sports in Poltava region, led by the rector of PoltNTU, professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko, the president of Poltava branch of Sports Union of Ukraine.
Programme members communicated with students and teachers of the university in Ukrainian-American Centre in PoltNTU. The issues of education found receptive audience. American guests were mesmerized by the information about sporting achievements of students at PoltNTU and the possibilities to realize themselves in various sports, created for university students. After hearty interaction, the programme enrollees got an opportunity to run a basketball training session at modern sports base of the university.
It is worth mentioning, that among the beneficiaries of the program “Youth Leadership Through Sports”, who visited the United States of America in March 2019, was Maxim Rubel (Max Roubel) – the PE teacher from Poltava School No.29, the executive member of Poltava Basketball Federation, the member of the permanent commission of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine, who is in charge of the issues of school basketball development.
It is worth noting that PoltNTU has long-term cooperation with the USA. PoltNTU is a member of the US Government Program: College Administration (# CCAP), according to which the principals of PoltNTU colleges have undertaken one-month internship in the United States of America. Together with Santa Fe College (Florida, the USA), PoltNTU implemented a number of grant schemes of the US Embassy in Ukraine, in particular “Introduction of Inclusive Education through Youth Leadership”, which was realized in 2018-2019 and within the framework of which there took place the exchange of students and teachers between PoltNTU and Santa Fe College.
