The rector of the Polytechnic wins a charity auction in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

This week, the Thai boxing community held a series of charity auctions on its Instagram page in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the final auction were lots from the first-year student of the Educational and Research Institute of Architecture, Construction and Land Management, Champion of Ukraine Mykhailo Serdiuk, who returned from the European Championship in Muay Thai the day before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine.

“The power of social networks works! I saw a social network page promoting Thai boxing charity auctions in support of the Armed Forces and competed for lots from our first-year student, Ukrainian champion Mykhailo Serdiuk, who cannot stand by and like many people with a big heart wants to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the victims.

Misha chose to study in a very relevant specialty “Construction and Civil Engineering” and combines it with the development of his athletic talent. He put up for auction very symbolic lots – gloves and shorts from the pre-war European Championship.

I became the winner of the auction with a bid of 8 000 hryvnias and now these lots together with the payment check will take a prominent place in the Museum of Sports Glory of Poltava Polytechnic on the basis of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports. And the money will go to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and humanitarian aid, which is now needed by millions of Ukrainians!

Our athletes are not just in the history of the university – they are in the history of sports and Ukraine. You are our pride!

We are working for Victory! Glory to Ukraine!” – commented Rector Volodymyr Onyshchenko.

In addition, on the eve of this event, the Academic Council of the National University “Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic” decided to transfer one-day earnings of the team to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“I put up for auction a medal for first place from the World Games. The World Games are a kind of Olympiad for non-Olympic sports, which is held every four years. In 2017, I won it. The starting price was 5,000 hryvnias and reached 20,000 hryvnias. In my opinion, this is the least that can be done in this situation,” – recounted Oleh Pryimachov.

It should be recalled that Poltava Polytechnic students – Oleh Pryimachov and Mykhailo Serdiuk won the Thai Boxing World Championships in Bangkok last December. Oleh Pryimachov became the World Champion in the weight category of 91 kg, and Mykhailo Serdiuk won bronze among juniors in the weight category up to 54 kg. Mykhailo Serdiuk won a ticket to the World Cup in Thai boxing at the Ukrainian Cup, and he also holds the title of World Kickboxing Champion – he took first place at the WAKO Kickboxing World Cup.
