Scientific and pedagogical staff of the Department of the Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" held the first (university) stage of the XIII Taras Shevchenko International Language and Literary Competition for Pupils and Student Youth. Students of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy, the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports, the Educational and Research Institute of Information Technologies and Robotics expressed a desire to compete and test their knowledge of their native language.
In her introductory speech to the participants of the contest, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of the Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation Liudmyla Derevianko emphasized that the educational prestige of the Taras Shevchenko International Language and Literary Competition for Pupils and Student Youth is only growing every year, and modern difficult realities strengthen Ukrainians' sense of national pride, awareness of their own identity and motivate to a deeper rethinking of the creative heritage of the great Kobzar. According to the scientist, the work of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko is an inexhaustible source of wisdom, Shevchenko's poems, written more than a century ago, are still relevant today, as Shevchenko's word is not subject to time, it lives forever, it inspires everyone who knows how to listen to it.
The proposed tasks covered the knowledge of the poet's creative heritage, especially diligently and zealously talented student youth worked on writing a work-reflection "To the heroes of the Ukrainian army – Shevchenko's word". The creative work became an interesting challenge for the contestants – when writing, it is necessary to use an epigraph, two quotes from the works of the great Kobzar, two sentences with a comparative phrase and two sentences with inserted words. It is worth noting the high level of knowledge and presentation of students' creative works, since all participants were extremely conscientious in completing the competition tasks.
The winners of the first stage of the XIII Taras Shevchenko International Language and Literary Competition for Pupils and Student Youth were:
- Victoriia Mazniak, student of group 101-FI of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy (I place);
- Yana Kapustian, student of group 203-TN of the Educational and Research Institute of Information Technologies and Robotics (II place);
- Yuliia Lytvyn, student of group 101-TN of the Educational and Research Institute of Information Technologies and Robotics (III place).
The contestants were prepared for the creative and intellectual competition by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of the Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation Svitlana Doroshenko, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of the Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation Iryna Denysovets and Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of the Ukrainian Studies, Culture and Documentation Liudmyla Derevianko. According to the scientists, talented student youth are more and more willing to participate in honoring the creative heritage of Taras Shevchenko as well as the native language and traditions of the Ukrainian people, raising the level of language education in Ukraine.
The Taras Shevchenko International Language and Literary Competition for Pupils and Student Youth was founded with the aim of identifying creative youth, developing their intellectual potential, popularizing the name of the great Kobzar, and positively motivating contemporaries to a new, non-traditional reading of the works of the famous Ukrainian.
We sincerely congratulate the winners and are proud of their high creative achievements! We wish them new success, personal achievements and intellectual victories!
It should be recalled that an all-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference will be held on the basis of the Polytechnic on the occasion of the anniversary of the philosopher Hryhorii Skovoroda.
Previously, 8 scientists of the university joined the National Union of Documentary Experts of Ukraine and received certificates, and a philologist-scientist headed the Poltava branch of the National Union of Documentary Experts of Ukraine.
