During August, students of specialty 014 "Secondary education" of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Valeriia Demko, Anastasiia Bida and bachelor's graduate Anna Ovsii studied at the Summer Language Courses in Stuttgart (Germany). The participants of the intensive course actively studied the German language, improved their speaking skills, deepened the knowledge they had acquired at the university, and got to know the country's sights. The initiator and inspirer of the active students was Iryna Yakubenko – a scientist of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology and Pedagogy, Candidate of Philological Sciences, senior lecturer of the Department of General Linguistics and Foreign Languages of the Poltava Polytechnic. She provided comprehensive support, motivated them not to stop at what they had achieved and accompanied the participants to Germany.
Philology students successfully passed the test and mastered the German language in a four-week intensive course according to their level of language proficiency. The chosen format of classes motivated them to systematically work on language skills, expand vocabulary, take a deeper interest in German culture, art and history of the country. Daily interesting discussions with participants from other European countries, lively intercultural exchange and communication with experienced teachers contributed to the students' performance in all assigned tasks.
According to the participant Valeriia Demko, such international projects are a great opportunity to enhance one's own conversational skills, gain new useful skills and improve the knowledge gained at the university, gain confidence in one's abilities and get pleasure from new acquaintances.
"During the month, we had interesting classes with native speakers and met representatives of different cultures, besides, we communicated exclusively in German. Therefore, it was not difficult for us to obtain a certificate of language proficiency. The rich cultural curriculum included visits to German cities, some of which impressed us with their modernity, and others with their originality and the preserved spirit of antiquity in the medieval streets. Frankfurt, Berlin, Tübingen, Esslingen, Mannheim, Konstanz (Bodensee) and Kreuzlingen (Switzerland) welcomed us with joy. I am sincerely grateful to the administration of the Poltava Polytechnic for the opportunities created for a language internship abroad and to our teacher, Candidate of Philological Sciences Iryna Yakubenko, who constantly helped and motivated me to get to know the beauty of this country," – shared her impressions Valeriia Demko.
"We are sincerely glad that even in the conditions of war on the territory of Ukraine, we got a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the German-speaking culture in more detail, to communicate with native speakers and to visit the sights of the partner country. During the intensive course, we received many positive impressions and good memories from communication with colleagues and students from other countries. We are convinced that the experience gained will allow our youth to become highly professional specialists in their field and work for the benefit of the Ukrainian people," – commented Candidate of Philological Sciences, senior lecturer of the Department of General Linguistics and Foreign Languages at the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" Iryna Yakubenko.
