On the eve of the Day of Defenders and Defendresses of Ukraine, at the Center of Culture and Student Creativity of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" there were held celebrations dedicated to honoring the memory of heroes who died for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state. Scientific and pedagogical staff, students of various educational and research institutes and faculties, cadets of the Military Department of the University gathered to congratulate the future defenders and defenderesses of Ukraine, all those who wear military uniforms and stand guard of peace in our country.
Anatolii Martynenko, Candidate of Military Sciences, Reserve Colonel, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and Infrastructure Development of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" addressed the audience with a welcoming speech: "On behalf of thousands of scientific and pedagogical staff of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" let me congratulate everyone on a special and most respected holiday for every Ukrainian – the Day of Defenders and Defendresses of Ukraine! Our Armed Forces, hardened in fierce battles in eastern Ukraine, continue to protect peace and tranquility throughout our young state. Poltava Polytechnic has been joining the honorary mission of forming personnel potential and strengthening the defense capability of the Ukrainian army for many years. Every year, from the Military Department of the University graduates about a hundred reserve officers, ready every minute to stand up for their homeland. We honor the traditions of the Ukrainian Cossacks, glorify and affirm the positive image of the modern army, and popularize the military profession among modern youth. I am firmly convinced that each of us will take up arms at the most crucial moment and defend the interests of our own state! I wish everyone peace, good health, optimism and life's inspiration!"
During the festivities, students and lecturers of the Military Department of the University, who made a significant personal contribution to the education and training of future reserve officers and demonstrated high achievements in education and military training were presented with honorary awards.
On the occasion of the Day of Defenders and Defendresses of Ukraine for a significant personal contribution to the training of reserve officers, a lecturer of military training, Lieutenant Colonel of the Reserve Volodymyr Dehtiarov was awarded with the Citation of the Rector of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko.
For high achievements in education and military training with Citation of the Rector of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic", Professor Volodymyr Onyshchenko were awarded:
Vladyslav Boiko, student of the Educational and Research Institute of Information Technologies and Robotics;
Roman Bakai, student of the Educational and Research Institute of Information Technologies and Robotics;
Kateryna Vatel, student of the Educational and Research Institute of Oil and Gas;
Oleksii Zub, student of the Educational and Research Institute of Oil and Gas;
Bohdan Semeshko, student of the Educational and Research Institute of Finance, Economics, Management and Law;
Andrii Hryhoriev, student of the Educational and Research Institute of Architecture, Construction and Land Management;
Svitlana Zhabotynska, student of the Military Department of the University.
In a troubled time for the whole country, when fighting continues in the East of Ukraine, and courageous daughters and sons are defending their native land with weapons in their hands, the tragedy of exorbitant losses did not escape Poltava Polytechnic. The attendees held a minute of silence to honor the fallen heroes and laid flowers to the memorial stele to the lecturers and students fallen in World War II and to the memorial plaques to Dmytro Koriak, graduate of the Electromechanical Faculty, and Maksym Khitailov, student of the Education and Research Institute of Architecture, Construction and Land Management.
Cadets of the Military Department of the University, students of the hand-to-hand combat section demonstrated practical skills in hand-to-hand combat tactics and firearms handling.
Students Yaroslava Pysanka, Valeriia Tuz, Mariia Serba and first-year student of the Educational and Research Institute of Architecture, Construction and Land Management Sofiia Hrosheva presented song performances.
This year, 95 cadets of the Military Department of the National University "Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic" took an oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people on the basis of the 179th Joint Training Center of the Signals Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the participation of the mayor, heads of law enforcement agencies, public services and partner institutions of the university.
